any problems with a 195/45/15 instead of 55 series

Been reading and everyone is going with a 50 series tire. I know it is closer to the factory size. Will i have any problems going with a 45 series besides the speedo being a little off?

a little. your going like 2 steps down.

but why would you want to do 45? for better acceleration? unless your lower, well even if you are lowered...it will increase the gap from your tire to your fender.

50series to me is pushing it. its already a great series to run with...but i dont know about 45.

no harm i suppose.

The 55/50/45 you speak of is representing the tire wall in the form of a percentage. If you do the math on the whole deal you will notice the overall difference in mm.

height for a 55 = 107.55
height for a 50 = 97.5
height for a 45 = 87.75

....So as a total you are only looking at 2cm difference of height between the tread and rim. That's about 4/5 of an inch. When you add the other side of the tire to that for the total height of the tire you are looking at 1.6 inches of total height in the tire size.

In conclusion you will be sitting 0.8 inches lower, with 1.6 inches less tire height in total.

it will not cause any problems other than the speedo being off.

Well other than looking like a grocery cart, your speedo and odo will 'show' 7% higher than actual. Thats 64 instead of 60 and 1068 miles instead of 1000 miles driven.
205/40x17 and 205/45x16 both work on 16x6 or 17x7 wheels with 42 mm offset STOCK ride height. If its lowered reasonably you'll need 45 mm to 46 mm offset.

I think the 45's would be too small cause 50's are borderline small... IMO

i decided to go with a 205/45/16 with a 42 ofset wheel. I think this set up will work, by what i have been reading. I wanted something a little bigger but not to large to render the performance of the car. The 16 inch and 15 inch are such close in price..i though..why not go bigger for looks, as long as the performance is still there....

205/45/16's will work.. but 205/45/15's definitely would have been too small.. i can almost garantee that your gonna have rubbing issues with that setup... good luck

You went from 15's to 16's? Unless you ment 16's the whole time?
It would have made more sense.

depends on the offset. I think there are options that will not rub at all. The trick will be finding the right offset.

...205's are a stretch though.
