195/50/16 or 195/55/16
OK, so i have narrowed my tire search finally to two sizes! Took me long enough...
I dont want as much of a gap in fenders so i may go with the 195/50/16 (Kumho Ecsta ASX $77 each!). They should be lighter too. Im lowered on Progress Springs which is only about a 1.2f/1.0r drop, so im sure rubbing wont be an issue, especially on my local roads. If anyone can help me justify going to 195/55/16 than i would chose the Nexen CP671 ($71 each!). Oh yeah, 205's have been scratched off my list.
Any suggestions?

i have a thread about my 17's with a 205 u shouldnt rub with 16's im running 215 40 17 they rub but im pulling the fender. anyway if u run 195s (i had them on 15's) then u shouldnt ever have a problem. im lowered 2.5-3.5 in. and i never had issues with rubbing on smaller rims

The only real benefit from having a 195/55 opposed to 195/50 is that the 55s will have a thicker side wall (great for absorbing the initial shock from bumps and softer ride) and it will fill your wheel wells more due to having a larger outside diameter (which will also hinder your acceleration).
The shorter 50s you'll have a slightly stiffer ride in general due to the thinner sidewall (also helps during cornering) but the outside diameter will be slightly smaller than the 185/55s that came on your Fit. So, this would actually help your acceleration as well.
I wouldn't be too concerned about rubbing if you are using your factory Sport alloys. Now if you had aftermarket wheels then it could rub depending on the wheel's width and offset.

^^Car is lowered read the thread.
Off that 195/55 will get rid of a little more of that gap you got there. I just looked at your thread in your sig for reference.
Also I liked the wheels better in Bronze. Just my two cents....

I was also thinking about going with the 195/55/R16 because even the CR-Z which shares the same platform as the Fit comes stock with the 195/55/R16 sizes and would this size cause any rubbing or issues to the vehicle?

you will be fine at stock height with 195/55 and maybe a mild drop.
op is on progress springs that are about the same as Swifts.
I run a 205/50/16 on stock sport wheels with swifts and do not rub under any conditions.
the 195/55 is 24.4 and the stock Dunlops are 24.2 so the CRZ tire is just a little taller no problem.
