Making my own rear disc coversion

Hey guys,

I want to make my own rear disc conversion instead of paying the expensive t1r rear conversion. What rear mount will fit? Would an EP3 Or integra fit? Cause I will go get a mount from the wreckers, slap it on, get rotars and calipers to fit. Is there any rear mounts that will fit right on the fit?

just wondering if you went to the dealership and found out the part numbers on the fit and see if they match any other model then that would solve that issue and then you could go to the salvage yard and grab what you need. i would be down to do it

I am assuming you are wanting to do this to a GD and not a GE???

Yes I'm talking about a GD fit.

1TR is expensive. $699 is expensive. It we could just get the bracket that would fit slap the rotors and calipers we would love life. The 3 cars I think that might fit are EP3, Si civic, or a integra. Then you just mount it and call it a day ya know. Will give you more effective braking and let's face it, drums look dusty in rims. Personally.

Both the T1R and Fastbrakes.com rear disc conversations are $895. I believe there was a thread in here that tells you how do your own conversation.

Check this advertising of mine for rear disk rotor, caliper and pads from JDM Fit GE RS but should be able to be used on GD too:

The problem that arises is that most the cars you mention either use trailing type rear arms or independent rear suspension. So unlike the T1R hub bracket assembly with the mount most of those other cars have rear hub assemblies.

I can't think of any USDM Honda that you would be able to bolt a spindle mount on the beam of a GD. I can look in the parts catalog more.

I rather not have a custom built bracket cause that's $200 then to buy your set up is $350 and now I'm up to $550 plus shipping.

For everyone who is interested, I have done some digging and poster above you are correct on the independent rear suspension. I have looked into a 88 integra. Not 90. 88. 88 does not have a rear independent suspension like the the 90s and above. So this I believe is the solution. 88 bracket, slap rotors on it, slap the calipers and you are rolling with rear discs.

I believe I already covered this as which spindle set-up to get. A Del Sol spindle with the disc will bolt right on. That is all.

so you are saying if one were to obtain a del sol rear trailing arm, you could strip all the parts off and attach it to the fit's rear torsion beam?

From when I bought the T1R conversion, I asked what it was from, spindle was from a Del Sol, caliper was an ep3, disc was a civic. Basically all civic parts. Now I have a friend with the same wilwood bbk rear as me and they fit exactly the same(on his Del Sol). The main thing is the spindle with the bracket. On my Fit, the hub was reused because of the magnet needed for the abs.

Well I will be looking into this now. I need to hit up a wreckers for a rear disc off a delsol. I always figured that an ep3 would fit. If you look at that car it looks like a fit except in 2 door. So I will be going ahead with this when I do find the parts at a wreckers. Will be doing what blue cell said. Going to get the rear disc from a delsol and put em on the fit.

It is just a matter of finding a del sol in the wreckers along with an ep3 for the calipers.

The spindle off a del sol is more than likely going to have some rust. It will require a sand job as well as a paint job all black so it doesn't look old or like garbage on the back of the car. The rotors will be easy to find as civics exist in the wreckers like a dime a dozen. Sadly it'll be the ep3 as well as the del sol that will pose more issues. If I do find an ep3 I will more than likely take the rotors and calipers. Or I can always buy brand new rotors from the parts store for an ep3 mount those and get new brake pads while I'm at it. Get fresh brakes all around. New rotors will be a little expensive. But it will only be 2.

One more theory:

Also, EK will fit: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...-fit-jazz.html This link is a last option. But there were modifications used. The EK civic and so forth all fit properly minus a custom spindle.

Why not just import a GE8 rear axle (w/the discs & brake lines) from Europe?

There was a link to the ebay listing in one of the rear disc threads... iirc it's about $500 - $600 shipped, and then it should be pretty much plug & play.

I was about to pull the trigger on that but a few other things came up... I'll be looking in to that again in the coming months.

I see the FIt EV has independent rear suspension. Would that bolt in to regular Fits?

no.

Fits/CRZ/Insihgts do not have the unibody mounting spot for the center, and the rear axke bolts in with one bolt each side like a shock, not a "T" with 2 bolts each side.

Big difference
