I am concidering doing the Asian Conversion from the Jazz. But I am not seeing any problems under hard breaking yet with the Drums in the rear

I would agree with Dougie on this, while 4whl disc's are a definate asthetic, if the rear drums do a good job then it's a matter of preference and do you have the dough to toss at it. Since the other markets are getting 4whl disc I'm sure we'll see a conversion kit sooner or later, with luck it won't cost a fortune!

For street use : front : Hawk HPS pads (comming soon)
: rear : stock drums

This setup is more braking power than anybody needs for
sporty driving. This car is light and brake good. Also, rear
disc don't do much since about 80% of the braking is in the
front. Shure for autoX or lapping, could use racing pads in
front...

My opinion,
Philippe

Hey dude. Check out this review sight. I haven't read all of it but the conclusion table at the end indicates that the Thai Fit comes with rear discs whereas the Japanese version has drums.

This is one of the most comprehensive Fit/Jazz reviews I've come across.

I wonder why we can't get 4 discs in NA. Probably to keep prices below the Civic.....With the worldwide volumes they're selling, I wonder if they couldn't do 4 discs with the same price....Just thinking out loud.....

Sorry about that. I forgot to include the link. Here it is. I've just read the review. It gives more information than most people would want I think but its really informative.

Yup, it looks as though 4 discs are standard in South East Asia. Perhaps there's a way of ordering some for us here....who knows....

Don't know if the writer is advertising for Honda or not. But he must be an auto journalist of some sort. You can't write this much on the topic unless you're in the biz.

That's really strange....No VTEC in the UK? Maybe its the type of use most people are expected to have....According to the review, the DSi is slightly better than VTEC up to 3,000 rpm which would translate to about 130kmh. Over here there are a lot of highways and for freeway passing you need to hit a minimun of about 140kmh....Don't know really. Gas is cheaper here relative to UK...I think about half the price still and the VTEC uses slightly more fuel.

By the way, how much is the MSRP over there. Here it starts at about $15,000 and goes to 19,400 for the Sports model. The out the door price for the Sports model with all taxes etc is about $23,500 in Canadian dollars. Just curious.

As for disc breaks, it'd be a nice feature. I've got 4 discs and my car stops at about 120 ft from 60 mph. A couple of times, if I had 135 ft stopage as in the Fit/Jazz specs, I definately would have hit the back of the car in front. Don't know why Honda doesn't at least offer it as an option.....Better yet, it would be really nice to have it as a part of the Sports Package...

Just rambling.......

Peace man

I would like to see a conversion available just for looks, as a circuit driver I am a firm believer that the stock system on the fit is plenty, especially with new pads and slotted from rotors. The fit is just so l light and set up properly there isnt really any heavy braking on the track like you would have with a 400hp road racer.

The Asian and European Jazz have disc rears. But you cannot move fronts to rear.
We have a machine shop here and a spare set of 91 CRX Si rear discs which we could fit to the Fit by machining the spindle to the CRX Si one ( the fit spindle is bigger than than the CRX) so the only effort is to refit the ebrake cables and the hydraulic lines. Thats a good bit of work and not feasible for most. As we told AJ-Racing who is trying to set up a group buy at $650 that is a preferred route when we ordered a set. His photo of the kit is good even though we didn't see the ebrake parts.
For those who find the stock drums ok there are those of us who drive in mountains and on racetracks so we look for ability at the limits. (see you tube "Hyundai Sundae at VIR" for an example of spare time projects). That means disc brakes and PF or Hawk pads, neither of which come in drum shoes. If you think thats bad you should hear my efforts to get limited slip for automatics.
