Sorry to keep hitting on the same theme, but it looks like I will be forced to buy the "Sport" edition to get the features I want, but I just hate the "aero" stuff.
Anyone know what will be involved in removing this "stuff", will it leave exposed unpainted surfaces? Obvious screw holes?
There's a guy over at the edmunds board that has show pics that detail the screws inside the rocker panels for the side skirts - but having had factory accessory trim added at the dealership on a Honda before I can attest that they're majorly into the 2 sided tape thing along with select screw on mounting.

Would have thought quite a market for people wanting the aero stuff to add to the base model so you should have no prob selling the kit. Just need to give the body parts under the aero parts a good wash and wax.
I bought the VTi rather than the VTiS here because I didn't want the extra 15kg of body kit and fog lights for A$2,000 more.

i think the body kit should just be a factory option. i really want a milano red fit with a black interior, but that combo is only available on the sport model. oh well, i won't really mind having the aero pieces and wheels, but its still an extra $2K.

Why all the hate for the OEM body kit on the Sport model? It looks pretty good to me and probably fits better than most aftermarket body kits, with the exception of those from high end JDM tuners like Spoon and J's Racing.

i guess i'm not really hating on the OEM kit, as i actually like it, but for those who would rather go a different route like an aftermarket kit or aftermarket wheels, it'd be more cost-effective to just buy a base model, as the engine etc. is still the same.
however, if and when i buy my Fit, i'll go for the Sport model. it would be nice to have a brand new car that is already complete from the factory. that's not to say i won't mod it, but it'd be nice to start out with a factory kit and some decent wheels on it. saves me the trouble of doing it myself and is able to be rolled in with the cost of the car.
cliffnotes: i like the OEM aero kit and would buy the Fit Sport.

I'm not just 'hatin' so to speak.
I think part of it is the disappointment that the US aero kit
is significantly different than the UK and JP versions. You
must admit it that, including the beefed up bumpers, the
aero kit makes the US fit look different.
I've always loved the fit for the traditional snub nose look
and am going to try to replicate that look in my fit.
The sport-model owners will be able to sell that upmarket OEM gear to base-model owners though, there will definitely be a market for that.
I remember when the STI first came out, WRX owners were paying $2k+ for a set of STI rims, more than enough to let an STI owner go out and buy some nice aftermarket wheels.
Same will go with the aero, I imagine. You may not get enough to fully fund aftermarket gear, but there will be demand for it after not too long, so it will at least partially offset the hit you take on buying the car.
