Hi guys, i'm a singaporean here driving a JDM FIT1.3Auto Idis for a yr..... I wish to convert it to manual and subsequently convert to 1.5vtec in future..... guys who have done this conversion before can teach me how it goes doing and what are all the stuff in detail that i need.... wish to have a proper convert just like a manual factory without shorting any brackets or stuff... please help... thanks
I can only suggest swapping the driver to another car with MT...not the AT with the MT. ...good luck...
ditto to that.

I have "heard" it is easier to convert a Manual to Auto... But to be honest I have never met anybody who has converted an Auto car to Manual.
I am sure with a nice fully stocked shop and enough money it is possible, it would involve a lot of custom fabrication and you would have to be pretty tricky to get everything to work well.
I am inclined to agree with the other guys though, IMO the huge cost and massive amount of time this will take would not be worth it if you can sell your car and buy or import a manual version of what you want instead. But if this is what you really want to do... well keep us posted
seems like its gona be an expensive job... there's a lot to be involved...
I have experience with cars, and a buddy of mine did it on his old integra (86), and now a days... it costed more than the car was worth, but it was his money and his choice...
one question... why didnt you just buy a stick? anyways, good luck with this project!
Just sell it and but a MT. I am doing a swap on my 240sx AT to MT but that is probably the easiest car to do it on and since it's old I can get all the parts for like $500.00. Good luck if you do, do it on the fit.

Well, I planned to do the same thing at the beginning, but I change my plan. The most important that you have to get is the MT ECU to make everything work in the car. The engine mount are little differnt than the MT. also, the project req. couple DIYs' which is not hard to do such as clutch padel, clutch line.
If you really want to do it, and planning to swap to 1.5 VTEC. I have a USDM FIT MT ECU sitting in my home and I have nothing to do with it. I can sell it to you.
PM me for more details

well in my opinion it would be a easy swap if you pick up a front clip of a vtec 1.5L and just swap all the parts over. just make sure the whole front end is there.
if you just want to buy the parts then good luck. that's more work and more costly to do 1 mod then swap the motor later.
I remember old hondas doing thes mods and getting a full front clip from shifter forward is your best bet.

i understand from the pt u guys quote change a manual car in stead but i'm leaving in Singapore... inorder to own a car here u need to buy a cert which cost $15k, A 1.3 Fit here can easily cost nearly $60ksing..... i know for just manual conversion is quite difficult cos got to get bit n pieces to fix it up but if i were to swop the entire front to 1.5vtec once i found a hlf cut it will be easy from what my mechanic told me .... and it will cost ard $4k plus installation..... if i were to push my car in now and change to a MT, the outstanding interest n depreciation will b easily $15k ........ and further more if i spend ard 4k i will get a JDM1.5vtec, only problem now is quite difficult to get a 1.5half cut in singapore..... and to swop a k20 into a fit bay in singapore is too obvious n the penatly is car will be comfiscated by the authority.... a 1.5 is not that obvious, i have fren in singapore convert to 1.5 but auto too cost $2k plus so my mechanic says if can get the 1.5vtec half cut the estimated cost will be ard $4k.... i know it will be pointness to do it by spending so much money , personnally i wanna make it a just like a clone of the spoon track car with the paint work and keep it as i like fit alot alot...cheers.........any 1 here convert to manual b4 please share the experience........
Remember kids, buy the car you want - not the car that you'll try to turn into the car you want at a price higher than the car you wanted in the first place.
the extra oomph you are going to get could probably be better spent moding the 1.3 you have now. (if there are in fact parts for it.)
there have been cases with civics and such that get the auto to manual conversion and you can pretty much do anything if your pocket is deep enough. but at that point, maybe it would be better to just buy a 1.5s manual no?
even in the civic circles where this concept is no stranger, most would agree that you'd be better of getting a manual transmissioned car.
