Removing adhesive from dash?

Previous owner put a stupid cloth covering on the dashboard and removed it when he got rid of th car. Now there's adhesive on the dashboard. I use googone to get rid of three of the spots on the rght side, but all the other ones are not budging.

Went to Shucks and tried some 3M stuff in an aerosol can. That didn't work and it also stained the dash.

I guess I could get some pictures up. All I've got right now is my iPhone but I'll try.

I might end up having to get a new dash, huh?

From what I hear that's a major pain in the ass and expensive. I would really hope you don't have to.

I can't find a way to upload I images to a host site or anything using just my iPhone. I've got them on photobucket thanks to the app. Photobucket is a bucket of crap tho. Give the pics a look: Pictures by uber_rabbit_dc - Photobucket

if that doesn't work just search for uber_rabbit_dc

^Went ahead and embedded them for you. If they're too huge let me know, I'll take them down. Looks pretty bad, dude. Bump for justice!

Wow that looks really bad.

I'm so sorry dude.

Have you tried WD-40? Might want to test on a small area first.
Or maybe you'll just have to get yourself a dash topper?

Haha ya dash topper would be the cheapest fix, but it'd also just add to the problem if I wanted to remove it at a later time. Which I'm sure I would. I really do hate them ha. Cloth is tacky!

I'll try wd-40 but I kinda doubt it'll work. Thanks for the pity guys. Heh

wow that's pretty bad. Mine wasn't as bad. I put an air freshener on the dash (my shaldan) and in the heat, the metal ring melted the paint off and created a ring shaped spot. I heard that u can take it to the dealer and they have a special paint and they can repaint the dash. I never did it because my gauges cover up the ring.

Hmm interesting. I'll have to call the dealer. Nothing'll get done till tomorrow at the earliest anyways, so keep the ideas coming!

Buy a bunch of little figurines and glue them down on your dash on each spot where you have a velcro patch. :]

Haha! Creepy, much? I'm trying to keep this car pretty stock so I'd like to restore the dash.

I had a Domo Kun doll on a sucker chain and used the sucker thingy to put him on the dash to hold down my paper information for a car show. When I pulled the sucker off from the dash behind where the gauge are, it left a circle on the smooth area of the dash. I still have not found anything to take it off. Our next show they are having a kids choice award so I got these little guys sitting above the glovebox. I used double sided 3M tape to keep them in place but if I decide to remove them I can snap the little rubber piece back in and you'll ever know they were there.

Hmm. I think I will most likely end up haing to cover it up with a dash topper. Anyone know which fabric might be best for the car? "/

edit: How about something with acetone? Like nail polish remover? I'm sure it will take the paint with it, but maybe I could take it to the dealer?

Damn. Are those pics after the goo gone? I have some velcro on my dash that moved due to heat and I want to take it off, but if the goo gone is going to do that I may just deal with it.
