Bigger tires to increase ground clearance?

Well, depending on the building, they might offer some space in the basement for tenants to keep stuff. Or, if you have a lot of stuff, you could go out and rent a storage space.

Storage rentals might be a good idea, since they keep them temp and humidity controlled.

Dude, get winter tires, it make day night different when driving in snow, not to mention it will actually help you in many ways, such as saving gas, better braking, better acceleration in snow, and potentially save your life.

A set of winter tires is good for 4-5 years (mine lasted for 6 years). Get a set of steelies or some cheap used 14" alloy rims (150-200$ MAX) and have the winter tires mount on it. Every year you can just change them yourself, twice a year, you save at least 40-70$ x 5 years, that easily recover the cost of the used alloy rims.

Just think of Winter tires in winter is like running Sport/R-compound in summer versus All-Season...

When storing your winter tires, it doesn't take that much space. Just store them in some cold room/dark place.

I would like more clearance for off roading...remember the vollkswagen dune buggies? A Jeep has a 10" clearance. I use my fit as dinghy behind my RV. So how do we increase the clearance?

it isn't really going to happen. taller tires but you're going to change your speedometer and mileage and make your car a lot slower

Get a coilover and raise it up, but you ain't going to get 10" clearance, at best you get 2 inch more than stock. If you want a jeep, buy a jeep.

You can of course custom make yourself a coilover that will give you lots of clearance, but that is going to cost you both legs + an arm.

Its called a trailer with big diameter tires..
Any tire that substantially raises the ground clearance will rub like the dickens. In fact it won't turn at all. But a 2 wheel trailer with spares will do nicely as any racer will tell you. And yes a 4 wheel trailer is safest.

If you want dune buggty clearance you'll need to cut the fenders off and make room for large diameter tires to turn in. 195/70x15's might be the ticket to get an extra inch of clearance. The Fit isn't a good candidate for a dune buggy. The biggest tire fitting in the fenderwell is about 24.5" diameter and that only offers a quarter-inch extra clearance.

I will be towing the fit as a dingy too, but my problem is to make the tow bar level for braking purposes, I have two choices drop the tow hitch or raise the car frame. Plus have found driveways that most think are normal are a problem. Every inch counts, I first saw this problem with soninlaws fiesta, his last visit I had to show him how to reattach his bumper, seems like his last parking lot barrier stops, managed to grab and pull the plastic plugs that hold the front end on. Proof was the scratches across the bottom of the bumper.
Thanks to this group I will be getting the base and not the sport.

Best choices for more height will be higher profile tires, greater diameter rims, lift shims, and coil springs from what I read here.

After 5 1/3 years of constantly having to reattach my front bumper to the front fenders and one episode of shelling out $2000 to have damage from running over a rubber alligator while travelling at over 70MPH in bumper to bumper traffic, I did what many other Fit owners have done and installed and aftermarket coil over suspension.... Unlike what is commonly done I have used the new suspension kit as a means of making my car better suited for driving rather than decapitating squirrels and other small critters that wander onto the road... I also installed 205-50-16" Goodyear GT tires on 16x6.5-16 Kosei K1 wheels with 45mm offset which is heavier than what I am used to but still lighter than what came stock on the car... The only thing that I consider negative about these changes is that I have to begin to accelerate earlier to pass cars on 2 lane highways which isn't a problem for me but would be to some extent if my car was still completely OEM under the hood... The front lip still makes contact at times after hard rains have rutted out the drive way but never enough to have pulled the bumper loose from the fenders... If I decide to use lighter, smaller, summer performance tires I have enough adjustment to have the same amount ground clearance as I now do, plenty of damping and front spring pre load.... I don't have anxiety attacks about going into town for groceries or having to zig zag around bumps and imperfections in less than perfectly maintained roads.... Having a car that you can enjoy beats the hell out of having one that shines and looks good in pictures but must be driven in a manner that keeps one constantly scanning the road surface directly in front of you instead of a distance further in front where a dangerous situation may be...

This allows me to adjust the height of the clearance
