08 GD3 Fit HVAC Diagnostic Trouble Codes

I've been troubleshooting an AC electronic control problem after having no luck at two mechanics and the dealer, who was just throwing parts at it. I was looking through the service manual and it has a section on troubleshooting that talks about looking for diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) on the climate control unit. It says to remove the center lower cover (under the HVAC knobs) then look for a blinking light on the climate control unit. Here's the manual section:

How to Troubleshoot the Climate Control System and here's the image they provide: http://hondafitjazz.com/manual/A00/P...0000BBAD01.PNG

However, when I remove the cover and look I don't see anything remotely like their picture. I only see the plastic of the cams for controlling the temperature and output diverter, no electronics or any sign of blinking lights. Am I looking in the wrong place? Or does this manual not apply to all Fit models? Any help is appreciated!
