Detached Muffler Hanger

I have a 2007 Fit and the muffler hanger completely detached from the muffler (see images). The entire exhaust pipe is now unsupported and it wags up-and-down whenever there's a bump in the road. As you can see, the bushing is entirely intact but the weld holding the hanger to the muffler is completely rusted out. I was hoping to fix this myself using a couple hose clamps but I don't see a good place to reattach the muffler. I could potentially attach a hose clamp from the tailpipe to the rod where the rubber bushing hangs but I'm thinking this could cause more damage to the muffler over time.

Any DIY fixes for this or should I take it to a mechanic who can re-attach the hanger with a weld?

1.) Go to junk yard and get axle back muffler section.
2.) Buy new axle back muffler. OEM or aftermarket
3.) Go to muffler shop and have them fab a fix. Muffler work is pretty cheap.

If you get it welded, it will rust in a medium/short amount of time and leave you in the same situation. These are stainless steel mufflers (very cheap stainless steel) than can withstand a bit of road salt. Since it's now 12 years old, I would expect this kind of wear normal. Welding rusty metal doesn't work well but depending of the price they carge you, it might be worth it. I have access to a Mig Welder so this would be what I'd personally do.

The cheapest (and temporary) fix would be a roll of perforated strapping from a hardware store. It's around 5 bucks and you can probably attach it to the muffler and hanger. This would work well while it lasts. The problem is that the muffler will soon start to rust in the area where the hanger broke and expose a hole, making a horrible sound. It's all down hill from there.

Like GolNat suggested, you can check local junk yards and see if they have good condition mufflers. You will need a new gasket.

Soem perforated strapping like carotman suggested, or a wire could work for a while. My muffler rusted off at the flange and I found an aftermarket one for like $40, it was faster and probably cheaper than trying to get someone to weld it. Plus, new muffler.
