My first Valve lashing experience. (not good)

Well, I bought this car not long ago, and figured it needed a valve adjustment, so i attempted it yesterday.I ended up breaking a valve cover bolt off in the head while undoing them... must have been cross threaded. in my attempt to remove it with an extractor, the extractor bit end broke off and is lodged inside the old bolt that snapped. I tried with 4 or 5 different metal bits to redrill the hole so i could tap new threads, but i cant drill it because of the piece thats stuck... so... i moved on.

first i have to confirm.... the intake valves were the ones closest to me standing at the front of the car right? beucase they were all sitting around .011 so i adjusted to .006-.007. the valves closer to the cockpit, im assuming were the exhaust valves, were all around .006-.008 so i adjusted them to .011ish. Put it all back together using RTV sealant on the spot where the bolt broke, and surprisingly it didnt leak.

I do notice that the valves sound LOUDER than they were before, and it has a slower paced knocky sound now rather then fast paced tapping sounds. any idea what i might have done?

Note: Car runs and drives fine, no CEL on.

The exhaust valves are close the cabin and intakes close to radiator , so you are correct. The noise you are hearing are [probably] from one of the valve having slightly larger clearance then the rest so it "sounds" every second engine revolution. The valve cover bolts on Fit are outside of the gasket so there should be no leak

So should I dig into it again and recheck them all or is it fine to leave?

I would check them again. Rule of thumb is to set them, turn the crank 1 full revolution back to top dead center, and check them again.

Well dang. I was hoping not to check them again since I slathered sealant on the valve cover gasket where I snapped a bolt off. Lol.

I'll check them again this weekend. It does perform good. More power it seems. But its ticking in the top end now even if its warm. It was going away when it warmed up before the adjustment.
