Check Engine Light indicating issues that my mechanic says aren't there

Hey guys. First time posting here. So I have an 07 Fit, and my CEL has been on for the better part of this year. I know that the codes are related to my 02 sensor and evap. I have an aftermarket gas cap. But I took my car in yesterday and my mechanic did a thorough diagnostic, and confirmed that the 02 sensor is functioning as it should (there were three codes related to it, apparently). I called Honda US (I imported the car here to Canada a few years ago) and they confirmed there are no software updates for the car's computer. Any ideas what's going on?

I'm about ready to get rid of the car. It's starting to cost me more than it's worth in repairs. I need to have the tie rods and struts and control arms replaced, too, apparently.

Thanks.

What's a "thorough" diagnostic?
Does he have Honda code readers?

If supposedly 02 sensor and evap system is working fine? Couldn't the codes be reset? The lights turned off?
I tend to trust the system, that is, if the CEL is lit...there is a problem. If it's an independent mechanic and not a Honda Dealership, I'm skeptical of the diagnosis.

I would double check everything, could just be bad wiring. I would definitely have my brow raised if my CEL was lit for a problem that isn’t there

Get a second opinion. Check-engine lights don't come on for no reason.
