2008 super maintenance
2008 super maintenance
Hi Folks,
We have a 2008 Fit with manual transmission, 105,000 miles, that we really like.
It runs really well, gets 44mpg and the body is in very good shape.
My wife is going to be working out of town for about a year and before she goes
I want to have our mechanic check/replace any parts that are 'iffy'.
We will be in NY state, far from our excellent mechanic in NC.
Is there an un-official maintenance/check list of somewhat common problems to look for?
Should we replace the coil packs?
What would you do?
I searched but did not find a thread like this. If there is one, please post a link.
Thanks and good health, Weogo

I wouldn't thorw parts at it that aren't needed. Maybe check the driveshafts if they're not rotten out, and then just the maintenance schedule and do anything that is due or hasn't been done recently: Maintenance Schedule for Normal Conditions - European Model (Except CVT-KG/KE/KR/KK/KT)
Hi Mobby,
Thanks for the reply and link!
Our current mechanic is really good and honest.
I was just asking in case there's something less obvious for him to consider.
Will definitely have him check the driveshafts.

Hi Pete,
Check valves and replace plugs with factory-spec iridium - on the list.
Years ago I drove air-cooled VWs and adjusted valves about every 2000 miles. At least
it was pretty easy to slide under there, pop the covers off and be done in a few minutes,
assuming you had an engine rotating assistant.
Air-cooled engines with carburetors going up and down mountains fouled plugs pretty
regularly - I did a lot of cleaning and re-gapping in those days!
I just finished vacuuming the car - always nice to take it to the mechanic clean.
Thanks and good health, Weogo
