Starter Motor
Starter Motor
So this little beast is giving me more headaches. How easy is replacing the starter motor?
I was able to drive this morning but then got stuck at a McDonalds :/ I thought the issue was due the anti-theft system because the key wouldn't work and the light stayed on for the anti-theft but I got the 2nd key and that didn't work.
Honda is quoting $800...
Oh and they are quoting almost $100 for a blown fuse...

If you are only doing the oil changes probably not
if you are doing brakes and did valve adjustment of Fit, it will take time and patience but can be done (will probably take 2 to 3 hours) and some preparation in advance
No cranking condition can also be caused by neutral start switch with A/T equipped car

Hi,
The starter motor is difficult, I got a mechanic to replace it.
You have to remove the oil dipstick and oil switch sensor and also the oil filter (obviously replace oil). The space is very limited to work in.
There is a video on youtube on how to do it.

Rodney

I ended up undoing the starter when separating the transmission (wasn't necessary). I think it's on like two bolts which are a bit inconvenient to get to but doable. I haven't actually removed it so it might be a pain to pull it out without removing other stuff.
Edit: I'd definitely first properly diagnose the issue. Or did Honda already do that? Because it could easily be a relay or ground wire or something dumb like that.
