Want to delete my downstream O2 sensor by using a simulator. Has anyone done this?
Want to delete my downstream O2 sensor by using a simulator. Has anyone done this?
Hey, fellas.
I have a 2008 Fit Sport automatic with about 180k miles.
Recently the catalytic converter went out on it and I replaced it with an AP brand aftermarket cat that I bought from Amazon. Turns out that the replacement I bought was defective and both the third party seller and Amazon have hung me out to dry. They wont replace or refund.
Because of this, I have a CEL that is constantly on. This has made me want to just install an O2 sensor simulator to get rid of the light, and just not worry about the cat. It isn't clogged or anything, it's just showing "under threshold" (P0420).
I recently purchased a simulator from Magnum Tuning. This one: https://www.magnumtuning.com/en/deta...nsor-simulator
Have any of you guys used this, or have any advice in regards to installing it?
Thanks and Merry Christmas!!

I don't have any experience with that device from Magnum Tuning.
In most cases, a cheap $8 O2 spacer is all that is needed. Moving the oxygen sensor out of the direct flow is usually all that is needed to eliminate the CEL.
As for your replacement cat being defective....it's likely not defective. It's just not as efficient as the OEM catalytic converter. There's a BIG reason why OEM cats are $800+ and aftermarket cats are $100. Aftermarket cats have far less actual catalyst material and do not clean up the exhaust near as well. You will almost always have a CEL with an aftermarket catalytic converter.
