2008 Fit Sport - transmission issue or just in need of a valve adjustment?

Our 2008 Fit Sport with manual transmission just reached 130k miles. Over the past week or so, it has been having issues accelerating. If you normal pressure to the gas peddle, it moves, but instead of the typical increase in acceleration, the car sounds like it is being revved in neutral. If I go gentle with the pedal, I can get from point A to point B but with noticeably less responsive acceleration. This occurs regardless of the gear the vehicle is in. The problem also seems to be more pronounced some times than others; sometimes it seems like the problem has disappeared but it always comes back. No sign of a CEL.

I replaced the spark plugs last summer but I know the vehicle is also overdue for a valve adjustment. Does this sound like it could be related to that, or does this sound more like it is transmission related? Also, if I attach my OBD scanner, is there anything in particular I should look for to help determine where the problem may be residing?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Don't think it has ever been replaced.

It is set to go into the shop in the morning. Wasn't looking for a $1k+ repair at the present time but this is part of the joy of owning a manual transmission.

Car repairs never a fun thing and always seem to come at inopportune times. But that's amazing 130k on the original, you obviously also know how to drive a manual
Keep up the good work in saving the manuals!
