Loss of all electrical power while parked

I'm trying to help my daughter with this problem that has just happened a second time. The 2008 Fit is driven with no problem and parked for several hours. On returning to start the car, there is no electrical power to anything, not even the interior dome light (which should work without the key).

The first time it happened she tried getting a jump, checked the battery connections and the main fuses including the one on the battery terminal. She then brought the battery to a parts store that checked it and said it was good. Reinstalled it and still no electrical power. Later she moved the car a short distance by pushing and the power mysteriously came back. She later took the car to a mechanic to have them try to find the cause. They found nothing wrong.

This happened again last evening after being parked at work. Same symptoms. No crank, no horn, no buzzer, no dome light, no nothing. She then tried pushing (even in gear), rocking, door slamming, with no change.

What can be done to try to diagnose this problem while it is in the fail condition? As nice as it would be in the short term to have it fix itself again, we don't want this to happen again at a worse time.

Is there anything that my daughter can be check with a multimeter?

What are the points in the wiring system (besides the battery terminals, ground connection, 80 amp fuses in panels and terminal), that could affect all the devices?

Is there an "active" component, like a relay, that can cause this?

BTW, the Fit has been in the family since new and has 220K miles and never had this kind of problem since the first instance 8 months ago and the instance yesterday.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Michael

Just got some more info from my daughter (which is in another state).....

A clarification, at least for this recent occurrence: Electrical power is not completely lost. It is just intermittent or very weak, or is lost or diminished once starter or brake are engaged. For example, the dash lights for a second when trying to start then goes out. Same thing by just pushing the brake pedal. The dome light does go on but then flickers or dims intermittently The horn works briefly but then gets weaker or stops working. It works again after a rest.

Trying to jumping the car with a portable battery pack did not help.
Tested battery voltage with a voltmeter and it was 12.4 V.

Two possibly related issues:
1) The stock dvd player makes a sound like it tries to do an eject for a few seconds. It does this even when the 7.5A fuse for "RADIO" in dash position #26 is removed,

BTW, what fuse controls the continuous power to the radio?

2) The plug of the aftermarket "u-haul" trailer brake light cable adapter was wet from lying in water that leaked into the spare tire well. Moving, shaking, and blowing it out did not help. Removing the 10A fuse for "TURN LIGHT" in dash position #4 had no effect.

Is there another fuse that affects the tail lights?
