The backstory: I bought an '08 Sport about a month ago with 150K miles. Love the thing, but a few days ago I heard the telltale signs of an input shaft bearing starting to go. I knew it was leaking fluid, since the person who changed the clutch before I bought it, being an idiot, thought the disassembly plug on the end of the case was the fluid check plug and left it loose (and I, also being an idiot, overtightened it to the point of cracking the case, so I "solved" the issue with a shitload of JB Weld. Don't be me, kids.), but I had been keeping up with the level, so I didn't think I'd damaged anything. Guess I was wrong there too, lol.

So since this transmission is clearly not in rebuildable condition, I need a new one. GD3 5-speeds seem to be a bit hard to find; none of the local junkyards around me have any, there are currently only a handful listed for sale on eBay, and Honda OEM parts retailers want a paltry sum of $3k for a rebuilt one. Not to mention, bad input shaft bearings seem to be a bit of a common issue with these, so I'd be taking a risk with almost anything I get. So, for the sake of expanding my search: do manual transmissions from newer Fits bolt in directly, or is there a transmission from another model of Honda that will work without a ton of custom... everything?
