Replacing only the friction disc on the OEM clutch?

So I finally replaced my clutch and got the Exedy HCK1006 kit (along with an OEM release bearing). I didn't grab the OEM pilot bearing, but from what I've read, it's the Exedy release bearing that's problematic.

I hate how the Exedy clutch feels. It is way too light (feels like there's no feedback), and somehow seems more prone to vibrations at the engagement point than even my worn out clutch (I'm the 3rd owner, and pretty sure it's the original clutch at 242km).
In fact, I'd say the old clutch felt better (maybe I just got used to it).

Long story short, I'm thinking ahead to the next clutch replacement already: the OEM friction disc can be found for $175 CAD (not much more than the Exedy kit cost), so I'm wondering if anyone has ever just replaced the friction disc and the pilot and release bearings (assuming the pressure plate was still good)?

Some pics of the pressure plate and disc.

Curious if the last pic shows heat damage to the pressure plate (at the 6 o'clock position finger).

Curious if that discolored patch on the finger at the 6 o'clock position is damage.
