Online marketplaces and Honda parts sources show 77900-SLN-A11 as the replacement part for a 2008 Fit Sport clock spring aka cable reel. After buying that and disassembling the steering wheel it's clear it's not a match for this vehicle which is a GD3 automatic with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The clock spring in this vehicle shown in the photos below has 12-pin male terminals on each face, a "VJ" label, plastic clips rather than holes on the sides, and only 2 cables with yellow/black plugs. A parts supplier contacted can't find a match using the VIN or photos. Does anyone know why this part would be a challenge and a source for the correct part number or variant based on the photos below?
I’ve seen others talk about the clock spring they are given not matching up. Then I saw one guy on you tube go to the junk yard. That seems a fool proof way to ensure that it matches up.
Cheers!
I had to replace mine. First I bought from ebay. Was not the right one. Dont buy any clock spring for the fit from there.
then I went to hondapartsnow, theyre basically a middle man to dealership parts. The pictures did not look the same as the one you need. I ordered anyway, was quite pricey. But turns out the its the correct part. The pictures they use is incorrect.
You could go to junkyard but think about it. This is a commonly bad item so buying a used part means it won't last.
Thanks for the tips. If you still have the packaging from the good part, is 77900-SLN-A11 what's on the labeling or is it some variation of that part number?

Yes thats the correct part number. It's expensive but worth it if you plan to keep the car
