Dilemma: Sale Fit for RDX?

I've always love my fit. Its the first "project" car I have and so far it hasn't fail me. My car is a "head-turner" and it has received a lot of positive feedbacks from all of you. I have invested a lot of time and $$$ onto this small car becasue there is so much potential to it and it has been really fun....

However, over the past few weeks... with all the snow pounding in Vancouver, I start to see the limitation of my fit - my setup is only good for summer cruising...

Enough said, I am now thinking if I should trade in my fit for a RDX... I know that may sound silly but I am not sure if I actually want to part out my car. Not that I am lazy but I feel really bad for parting things out, as if I am gutting it. *tears are actually running down my eyes as I type this*

Of cause, I am still at this "thinking / daydreaming / probing" stage... but I've been leaning towards the RDX... just so that I knwo I can get out in the summer AND in the winter.

What do you guys think? Should I just sell the Car or Trade it in? If I do sale the car AS IS... how much do you think I can get it for?

The car is a 2007 model, has 55900KM... ful JDM conversion. Turbo but never ABUSED it ( I only speed up to 150KM/H on I-5 once cos everyone is driving super fast for the black friday sale @ Seattle Premium Outlet), well maintained. No accident (other than recent snow dmg)... Driven by non-smoker, never been on track... the car comes with EVERYTHING you "fitfreaks" ever want...

I need some suggestion to help me make a decision.

Thanks guys.

please please spend a lot of time with the rdx, i work at an acura dealer and its cool and all, but try to drive it and research it a lot.. its not for everyone..
look behind the front seats too, theres these cutouts in the carpet, i really dont know why theyre there. and the base model 07s have manual passenger seats. but i read the import tuner last month when they did the power pages on it, dam..

Thanks or your suggestion~ The reason I look into an RDX is because of three things: 1) It doesnt use a lot of gas, 2) its still a "Honda" vehicle the and 3) I need a car with more ground clearance.

The RDX looks nicer than the CRX imo and I dun need a MDX (way too big). I'll be doing a test drive tmr and I'll prolly take teh car to some sidestreet where the snows has not been cleared.

wow. i really like your car.

now the problem with trading it in is the jdm conversion. hopefully they don't notice that the crash bar won't pass the 5mph test and you won't get as much as you want for it.

you can try to sell it whole to a private seller but it will be really hard IMO. you can probably ask about $18000-$25000. jhpusa.com has been trying to sell their Mugen Honda Fit for a while but no luck.

if you want the most for your money, part out some of it (body kit and rims and turbo and visors) and sell the rest as whole or trade it in. plenty of people will want some of your parts. (i know you don't like this option but it will get you the most money)

good luck i hope it helps.

edit: see what the dealer says about how much you can trade it in for

dealerships wont give u much for the trade in offer, i was given an offer of $11,000 with less than 20k miles, but then again i live in cali and cant say canada will be worse then that, so just go and get an estimate...my best bet is sell it to a fitfreak enthusiast on the forum and u dont have to go through the hassle of parting out

the rdx uses more gas than you think.. see if they can get you a service loaner or something so you can 'live' with it a little

guiness, sorry to see that you are thinking about parting ways, but i know how you feel.

from what i have read, the rdx is like a big sport hatch with more ground clearance (good thing.) but its not exactly a thrifty car when it comes to gas, but there are re-flashes available for the turbo to make it spry-er.

the sh-awd is amazing though! i personally really like the rdx, even if it rides rough for a crossover.

but i'd hate to break it to you, but unless you are the luckiest guy on the world, NO one is going to buy your fit as is, unless you give them the deal of the century, and even then, you will NOT be getting what you put into. in fact, you will get less than you would if your fit was stock.

modded cars, even done flawlessly like yours, never get what you put into them.

if you part out, not only will the dealer give you more for your stock fit, but you'll make up some of the loss with selling your parts.

first off, you wont get what you want to ask for your fit. second off. you will regret selling it. if you want an rdx that bad, save up. make the fit your garage queen and the rdx your daily driver. thats what i would do. its not worth it to sell such a modded car because you will loose your ass- money wise.

Damn, that's sad, cause your car is reaaaally nice... I love what you've done with it, the full JDM conversion, the sunroof, rims, etc.. It's definitely unique in NA.

I'm not too familiar with how bad the snow is in BC, but do you have coilovers? If so wouldn't you be able to raise the suspension, and get a set of snow tires till the snow is over?

If you're considering something with more clearance you must have your reasons. It would just be a shame for you to part it out, or trade it in for a low value. Hopefully some one will buy it who truly appreciates the car for what it is.

Good luck.

Hate to see you sell your car!

Have you checked out the Element? It also meets the three criteria you laid out, only it is better on gas I like the seating position of the Element actually.

I like your idea... actually my gf and I are thinking of the same thing... it will be much to sad to part out / sell a perfectly fine car.

Anyway, still gathering information...

you could try to find a used subaru for winter. They should be good for winter driving. I really like your fit. I think you will regret it if you sell it.

Are you kidding me?

I love my Fit, but if I lived in snow country and I could afford an RDX? That's a no brainer. I would get the RDX in a heart beat.

Subaru's are rattling crap boxes compared to an Acura IMO. Go for the RDX!

Are you joking a Subaru has far superior AWD compared to a RDX and a STI would be the same price range as a RDX and it would rock the socks off of any acura model out there actually to come think of it the new 2009 265hp WRX would smoke any acura/honda as well. Don't get me wrong I love honda/acura they just have a somewhat boring line up when it comes to speed/awd fun.
