Replacing the key battery

Anyone replaced the remote battery in the key? It's seems that the tiny phillips head screw needs removed but I can't get it to loosen, my jewelers driver just wants to cam out. I don't want to strip the head on it 'cause then I'll never get in there

i use this small craftsman screwdriver for that, works perfect. but ive also drilled the screw out before, but even without the screw, the snap fit is pretty firm too

Well, I got the cover off, without getting the screw out though...damn. After just torquing the cover past the screw, I used a pair of needlenose to back the screw out. The threads were totally coated with blue loc-tite, absolutely no way to apply enough pressure to un-screw it with a small enough driver to fit the head. Pretty crappy IMO. It's closed up but not as secure as before. Why am I messing with this? The battery was low enough that I had to get within 10' or so to actuate the locks

BTW, it uses a 1616 battery.

I noticed my battery has weakened and it's only been 8 months. What's the deal with that?

eh, I'll give it another 2 or 3 months. It's not terrible but sometimes I have to press the button multiple times for it to pick up. Good time to buy the red emblem keyfob from jdmland.com :P

There is a tab on the top and bottom of the "guts" as we call it at my dealer. Gently pull those to seperate the two halves. I change these out for people at least every other day.
