Transponder key no longer working

Well I just came home from a run and during the run I dropped my key and guess what, it doesn't work anymore is there a way to get it repaired or am I just going to have to buy a new one.
Thanks for any help, I couldn't find much info on the subject

I would open the key transponder. See pages 395 and 396 of owner manual and remove and reinstall the battery to reset the unit and make sure battery connections are good. Let us know how it works.

PS. If it got wet there may be no hope because of corrosion.

So Ive already opened it up and cleaned the battery contacts, the battery is about 10 months old, and I looked for any corrosion or wetness and there's none.

Don't get ripped off on replacement key remote!

Sounds like one of the small chips on the board inside the key may have cracked loose, etc. Get a replacement key fob blank for less about $12 on eBay. Honda wants $109 for the same p/n key + the cost of cutting and programming it!!! The dealer does charge to cut and program your key. Did this with my '09 base Fit and works perfect! Get the key here:

Man this is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for, I'll definitely do what you said and I'll report back prices and whatnot later. Thank you!
