Red is for braking. Its been this way since before cars.
Yellow/amber is for front.

IDK about it being in the bumper? Its looks out of place. Id rather have Matt's.
Mine isnt even noticeable till my lights are on.

I like the slim one.

Yeah I'm pretty sure this isn't JDM because I was at the toyota dealer a while back and I asked them about the rear fog on the Scion XB the new ones. And they said they copied the European Style.

I think it looks like a useless add on too since the whole point of your buy is to make it more JDM when actually you're making more European

The folks at rallylights.com have several rear fog lights available. Here's a couple of links:

you can change the color you like its up to you. people prefer red cause it like nice. why does the front fog light gotta be candle light color or yellow or white? why not purple. its people choice what they like. its up too you to choose...

I would think under the bumper might be marginally better for visibility in actual fog. Also, I wouldn't want my light to get broken if I get ass-tapped by somebody. How are people wiring these? I wouldn't want them to be on all the time, either totally independent or linked to the front fogs.

Ideally it would be independently wired, so that it would not go on and off with the front fogs if the high beams were selected. If you do the independent fog light mod then you could wire it up with the fronts. My STi is unfortunately not ideal.

The reason the light is red is partially technical - visibility - and partially legal. Rear facing running lights are red by law. (Turn signals and backup lights have separate and specific functions besides promoting visibility.)

The next time you are driving at night, look at a tractor-trailer rig, in particular the running lights. The front and sides are amber, the rears are red. (The exception on these is the high mounted lights at the top of tall trailers, all of which can be amber.)

I don't get the fascination with putting rear fogs. Unless you live in like San Francisco I doubt you'll ever see fog heavy enough to warrant a rear-facing fog. But hey, to each there own. Just don't leave it on when there's no fog out when you're in CT 'cause I'll probably get out of my Fit and smash it at a stoplight if you're in front of me . It's incredibly annoying and all the Audi owners seem to enjoy doing it.

Well, fog isn't the only thing they're good for. Rainy highway conditions cut way down on visibility too.

I completely agree on them being used inappropriately, such as in stop/go city traffic; rude and annoying.

I have one because I wanted one. Just like when I had foglights up front I ran them 24/7.

If you were doing 35-40mph and a state trooper was behind you, Im sure you would be ticketed here.

very true... I live in LA and see people with all kind of shit. However, I drive from LA to Central Cali almost every weekend and fogs gets crazy up there. I was actually thinking of just adding LEDS to my rear bumper or something to help with the fog since people want to go damn 100 mph in tule fog and I don't want to get my ass rammed by one of those arseholes... lol

I've been in plenty of situations in southern california where I could have benefited from a rear fog. I don't know what it's like in CT but don't assume it's silly for others to want one.
