same here! i'm still on my dad's policy but after i turn 25 in august i'll be on my own.

i already got a quote from AAA and my payments should stay the same, a little over $50.00/month: free roadside assistance within 80 miles from my home and a $500.00 deductible. AAA is awesome because most of their branches have a DMV right inside that NEVER have a line like the city DMV does

When I first moved to Calgary when I was 19 my insurance went from 1600$ per year in BC to 5400$ per year in Alberta.... private insurance licks balls.

No tickets, no accidents, no anything other than 3 solid years of clear driving history at that point.

When I first started calling around to switch my insurance over I laughed at the first guy... then laughed at the second guy and asked him to recheck the rate... then got angry. Then got really angry at the next 4 people I got quotes from. I finally called the first guy back and told him that 5400$ per year was the cheapest rate... then he laughed.

There was a bunch of legislation that came in that regulated it a few years later, but the damage was done. I paid out the arse for like 3 years after that

Then I turned 25 and my rate dropped in half; My insurance is like 1060$ (CAD) per year now.

I f#cking hate insurance companies, I see it as basically paying for the right to drive more than actually covering my expenses in the event of an accident (because we all know you end up fighting with them while they try to screw you over)

I'm still a student, and I turn 21 in a week, so I'm on my parent's policy. My insurance = 0$ a year. :-D

In reality I wanna say its just under 2k a year for my mom's 2005 civic, my dad's 2003 CRV, and my 07 fit. Pretty cheap for 3 cars with 2 under 5 years old.

That said, if I wanted my own policy all my quotes were on the order of $2500 / 6mos.

F-ing ridiculous that anyone could pay that. That's more than what I pay to OWN THE DAMN CAR.

Wow, your insurance are quiet expensive.. ^^

I pay about 490€ (~610 $) for full coverage per anno in Germany.. My Jazz is now 2 years old, but in Germany you pay not more for a new car. Here you'll get a regional class. This classes are build through regional statistics like no. of incidents, in which age are the drivers, different groups of people (mama's, grandma's, youngster, etc.)...

In Germany the Jazz/ Fit is most the secondary car for mama's or driving by older people who aren't driving fast, cool or rapid. That's why it is so cheap...
