Higher Insurance for Fit??

I just spoke with my insurance agent and she said the alarm and immobilizer will not reduce the cost of insurance because if someone wants the car, they will take it.

She also said insurance is more because of the high repair costs if I were to be in an accident. Because the cars are new and it's difficult to get parts, I have to pay a higher premium.

Has anyone else heard the same from their insurance company?

I was quoted $1800/year for full coverage at State Farm, I have 1 point on record.

That seems silly. All I know is my insurance went from $126/month to $105 (Civic to Fit).

I will never deal with State Farm as they tried to claim one of my cars was grey market even tho it was built for the US market and said so on the information tag...... Their homeowner's insurance dealings are well known also.

Mine cost a bit more, yes because new. I use the Fit for business, have two cars and two drivers on the policy, $1500 a year. The Fit is $8-900 of that.

Wow...dunno what to tell you guys. I have a spotless driving record, granted, but here in Indiana with State Farm, the insurance for my Fit is exactly the same as it was for my 1999 Cougar (actually, the Fit is $10 more per year, but still...)

Works out to about $525/yr for me.

I pay $1083.22 a year for full coverage but I'm older and don't have any violations so I qualify for the CA "good drivers" discount along with a few other things. I am also with State Farm and am going to shop around to see if I can do better.

I have friends who have expensive type sport cars and they pay less. It's just not fair! It's only a damn Fit.
