Question gas cap broken?

My gas cap seems to have broken today. When I try to tighten it, it doesn't put pressure, and it just keeps on clicking and doesn't stop or tighten up. Have any of you experienced this problem? Is the gas cap covered under the warranty?

I figure that this wouldn't affect the car except for the emissions?

Wait, wait... what you describe is normal. At first it should go a few turns and THEN it will just click, click, click while you continue to attempt to tighten... it's normal that way.
