I had an unfortunate run-in with a low clearance speed bump and royally messed up my stone guard (plastic piece under the front bumper cover. this is no biggie is suppose except that it is a single piece with the front wheel well guards. I want to replace it before cold weather and salted roads corroding my body. anyone know what the part name/number is for this thing or where i could get one? i have scoured sites like college hills honda to no avail.

 

you mean the skid plate?

 

I also ripped that off (and both plastic wheel well guards) while off-roading.
I plan on adding a sheet metal skid plate and a tube frame bumper while I'm at it. It doesn't snow here so I can do it at my leisure.

 

How did you rip that off on a speed bump? Im super low and have not ever had that skid plate ripped off. How fast were you going?

Honda part number 74111-SLN-A00. Bernardihonda has it. Collegehills can probably get it too if you search by PN. It's pretty cheap - $39.13. Don't forget to buy the clips.

 

Had a feeling it was the splash shield...just wanted confirmation. Not sure if we share the same part number though.

Anyway I DIY-replaced mine. This is true: Don't forget to buy bumper clips. You'll need at least 6 of them. Two go into each fender behind the front wheels (so yes, front wheels off when you replace the splash shield), and at least two of them reside under the engine itself - I don't remember exactly how many clips I used on the underside.

Try getting a ramp or at least two jackstands or scissor jacks if you want DIY replacement.

If you have the Fit/Jazz Electronic Service Manual, the instructions are there. Finding them is not straightforward though. The splash guard removal procedure is part of another, and sadly not an article in itself

If I remember correctly it was an article under the "Engine" category.

 

I hit a truck tire tread (say that three times fast) on the Interstate and ripped the leading edge off from under the bumper cover (71105-SLN-A00). The next day, I pulled the two screws that hold it to the larger splash shield (74111-SLN-A00) and removed it, thinking to replace it in a week or so. On the way home from work a couple of days later, I started hearing something up front rubbing the road. By the time I could get pulled over to look, the large shield had caught a crack in the road and ended up under the front tire; ripping out, and taking the left inner fender liner (74151-SLN-A00) with it. All three pieces were torn or abraded to the point that I ended up having to replace them. Turns out it was cheaper for me to buy the parts at my local dealership (where they refuse to come down from list price) than to buy them discounted at Bernardi or elsewhere and pay for shipping.

I got the clips from this eBay seller. 15 of them for less than $10... shipped! FWIW, the clips that hold the bumper cover and splash shields in place are not all the same length but are the same diameter. The inner fender liner has a couple of spots that take a smaller diameter clip. (I'm still running without them)

Let's not talk about having to fix the paper thin front fender that got bent when the liner pulled out. I was able to straighten it with my bare hands!

Ja, but I posted in here before about hitting a road alligator. Someone asked if we had gators in KY.

Actually, the damage was minimal at first. I procrastinated and it ended up ugly. If I'd just gone down the next day and bought the front piece, i'd have only been out $30 instead of $130. It provided a good excuse to give the wife, though: Since I was going to have it up in the air tinkering, I bought the fog lights from another Fitfreak and put them in while I was at it.

 

Now that's understandable. Im always afraid to hit "gators" cause they do massive damage
