Wheel question?

Has anyone put the tire pressure sensors in their aftermarket wheels? i'm about to buy wheels and i was thinking about buying four new sensors to put in my wheels so i would have them on my new set and my stocks.

Is this somthing that needs to be done or doesn't matter at all?
If i dont put then in my new wheels will my tire pressure light remain on?

If you have an 08 and up and dont transfer your tire pres. sensors, then yes your tpms light will stay on. you can either transfer them to your new wheels, put up with the light, or take apart you gauge cluster and tape over the led for the tpms light (which i did)

I recently got a new set of rims and my stock TPMS transfered right over. I guess the only thing you have to worry about is if you get a colored rim such as black or white due to the sensors being silver. When I had the tires installed the guy at Discount Tire told me that pretty much any new aftermarket rim you buy is compatible with TPMS.

Yep, the newer aftermarket wheels usually are. If you get the old skool wheels some may not be.

I'm thinking about picking some sensors up myself...my light has been on for a few weeks since I got my k1s.

the sensor just mount up where the valve stem is and is transferable to almost any wheel. if you transfer them to the new wheels the light should go off unless you have low tire pressure.

Yes, I have. Keep in mind that these sensors are approximately $21 each from Bernadi parts, if one to breaks, and it will have to be resynchronized.

It is not something that is needed, but I'd recommend doing it for safety precautions.

Yes, the light will come on if the they are not installed; however people who have grown tried of seeing the light usually open the gauge cluster and cover it from with electrical tape.

I wouldn't disable my TPMS. I have an 07 and added an aftermarket TPMS to it. It paid off when I got a nail on the freeway on a long trip. Our tires are pretty small and loose pressure fast. My TPMS saved me from a possible blowout.
