Cops can use discretion so always be respectful and polite and unless the guy is a jerk you won't be messed with for tinted widows..... It's hot as hell here it is unsafe to drive without tint, you could pass out from heat prostration or sun stroke and run over a bunch of hippies or Tea baggers or something really weird in Austin. I sure like the looks of Base model Fits.

The windows have been tinted and are well within legal limits.

I also solved my ladder/roof rack dilemma by buying a folding/telescoping ladder for about 1/3rd the cost of that roof rack. The new ladder fits very well inside my F-it.

You might want to check out the air shock thread In case you may have to carry something really heavy or undocumented workers...... They work very hard and are small and easy to hide under a tarp or something.

My first order of business is to get the windows tinted and install an aftermarket cruise control. Are any cruise control kits better than the others? Recommendations?

Also would like an alarm/keyless entry...recommendations?

Also thinking about a roof rack to haul a 6' ladder. I found this one online, any insight?:

Honda Fit Roof Rack (2007-2008) - Thule Traverse - CargoGear Car and Truck Accessories

Sometime later down the line I would like to replace my stock hubcaps with some wheels similar to these:

Can anyone recommend a brand/size that works best for the least money?

Also, I'm a gearhead, so are there any must-do performance mods? I assume the usual suspects; open up the intake and exhaust...is this the case with the Fit?

thanks for the help!

BTW, here's my car:

Hey there sweatmachine! I knew there was something about you I liked. We have the same tastes!! How's the Triumph? Small world, eh?

stupid question and thread bump:

does my 2007 base model fit have ABS? Is this the correct cruise control kit?

Honda Fit 2007-2010 w/ABS

kinda pricey...lame.

Yes, it does have ABS and yes that is the aftermarket cruise control kit for the Fit. I think I've seen the sane cruise kit somewhere else for a little cheaper, will check on this tomorrow. Also, to answer one of your older questions...

Yes, you will experience performance gains with an intake and performance exhaust but it won't be drastic. You may gain 10 to 15 WHP depending on intake and catback exhaust selection, even less with just an intake and axle back.

Hmm, didn't find it with a cheaper price however the unit is made by Rostra Precision Control and this specific model's number is 250-1855.

Just my thought on this though, I am not a too keen on cutting and splicing a fairly new factory harness (it mentions splicing in the directions). It may be possible to retrofit the cruise control from a Sport to work with a Base but I don't know the differences in the vehicle wiring, if it will be a plug and play install, or even if it'll be cost effective.

If someone could post up a wiring diagram for the Sport and Base models that would be great. With that, we could see what wiring/circuitry runs the cruise in the Sport and in the Base see if that wiring/circuitry is available and see what needs to be done to make it active.

thanks for your help Hootie.

I called the Honda dealer near me and of course they were no help with retrofitting/adding cruise control to a non-Sport model. They told me I should have bought a Sport model. Thanks, jerks.

I bought the Sport model primarily for the cruise control and used it for a little while until I did the Polasksi throttle spring trick. I like the sound of my exhaust and my own harmonica playing better than the sound system.... I am always having to reattach the bumper to the front fenders be cause of the stupid low hanging front lip.. It is hard to find the jack points because of the stupid side skirts but I like the fog lights but they are easy to find as after market parts and no trick to install...... I really wish I had gotten a Base Model....

What color is that? It almost looks like the elusive Lunar Mist Metallic, but is might just be SSM.
