A hissing sound when turning the car off
i have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport A/T with 21,000 miles on it..
i have noticed that sometimes after i turn the car off, open the hood, i hear a slight hissing noise coming from the left side of the engine, not too far down in the engine.
i have a friend who knows a lot about Honda's and he said it is nothing to worry about...
what do you guys think?

just wanted to make sure it wasn't a vacuum hose or a leak somewhere

It cannot be coming from the intake as the engine is turned off at that time, it sounds like a liquid draining from something... thats why i'm thinking about the rad... it cannot be oil as it seems to be more liquid... the more i think about it, the more i think that it has to be the coolant, it's probably just going back to the reservoir... ftlmatt if it's really such a big concern for you, you should check your coolant tank before and after... you can also check your other fluid levels to be sure it's not a leak. IMO there's nothing to be concerned about...

That one is more of a whirring sound... and comes from behidn the engine not to the left... does it?
But I know the fuel return pump runs, and I know the AC one also runs... if the AC was running when you shut off the engine.
Plus this question was answered already.

i do check it before and after. in fact i check my oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid and coolant levels every other day...i know i'm crazy right? But i really love my Fit Sport

i told him that is impossible because i don't let anyone else drive my Fit and that open containers are not allowed..only bottles with a screw on cap.
he ordered the part and 30 minutes later it was fixed...i now close the opening whenever i am not using it.

As long as you do not get any warning lights(red dot on AC Switch on older Hondas) and it is blowing cold, system is good to go. usually it is the Compressor clutch, or clutch swith or relay that goes. I had a clutch go before and what a mess! Fire burning under the hood. the drive belt melted
