A hissing sound when turning the car off

i have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport A/T with 21,000 miles on it..
i have noticed that sometimes after i turn the car off, open the hood, i hear a slight hissing noise coming from the left side of the engine, not too far down in the engine.
i have a friend who knows a lot about Honda's and he said it is nothing to worry about...
what do you guys think?

If you were using the A/C (or defrost), you are hearing the refrigeration system equalize. This is normal.

I've had this sound since I got the car, regardless of A/C being used or not.

I think it is an angry cat in or around your car. INspect for angry cats.

I noticed that too on mine, but i'm pretty sure it's normal, IMO it's only the coolant from the rad...

It cannot be coming from the intake as the engine is turned off at that time, it sounds like a liquid draining from something... thats why i'm thinking about the rad... it cannot be oil as it seems to be more liquid... the more i think about it, the more i think that it has to be the coolant, it's probably just going back to the reservoir... ftlmatt if it's really such a big concern for you, you should check your coolant tank before and after... you can also check your other fluid levels to be sure it's not a leak. IMO there's nothing to be concerned about...

Its the emissions air pump that you are hearing when you turn the engine off.

'07-'08 USDM Fits don't have emissions air pumps.

But I know the fuel return pump runs, and I know the AC one also runs... if the AC was running when you shut off the engine.

Plus this question was answered already.

i can't tell!! so many other noises going on...it has been doing that since i bought the car in March of 2008 and it now has over 22,200 miles on it and i have not had one single problem (except for the Aux. Jack..it stopped working,) and one of the mechanics at the dealership said that someone spilled something sticky down in the Aux. Jack.
i told him that is impossible because i don't let anyone else drive my Fit and that open containers are not allowed..only bottles with a screw on cap.
he ordered the part and 30 minutes later it was fixed...i now close the opening whenever i am not using it.

One day I had a hissing noise when I got out of my car. It was coming from the tire which had a piece of metal sticking out of it. :/

As long as you do not get any warning lights(red dot on AC Switch on older Hondas) and it is blowing cold, system is good to go. usually it is the Compressor clutch, or clutch swith or relay that goes. I had a clutch go before and what a mess! Fire burning under the hood. the drive belt melted
