I had the exact sound you describe everytime I shut down both my Dodge Neons. It may be related or not. Mine turned out to be the radiator fluid moving from the reservoir to the radiator as the engine cooled.

Are you sure? I went to check on mine but I did not see the angry cat.

I just got my 08 first gen fit, and it does the same thing. I got 45 k on mine, and also I noticed the coolant tank was empty, and is very hard to get to, to put any in... I was thinking the noise was the coolant draining back into somewhere too like that other person said, I do not think it is an issue though.

I heard the same sound time when I had an 03 Base Acura RSX. It all started after installing an aftermarket intake.

I had the same problem a while back, figured it was just the radiator releasing pressure or something. Later, when I was changing oil, I found these....

i have a friend who knows a lot about Honda's and he said it is nothing to worry about...
what do you guys think?

Next time you shut down, wait 30 sec open the gas cap and see if the hissing doesn't occur then (as its supposed to). If it doesn't the hissing is the fuel system releasing due to some likely minor air leak when you shut down..

Hissing

Heard hissing tonight -- both while running and after turned off. Seems generally
coming from left side, not far from driver's seat -- under steering column, maybe a bit to left of that.

Did not run A/C at all. No idea what it is, but it's definitely a new sound.
This is an '07 Fit with about 85k miles.

Thanks for any thoughts.
