Bp and Shell are similar in power but the lost in mpg and throttle effort is different. Do they still use MMT in premium gas? It sounds like bad gas on the Petro-Canada brand. With Ethanol in the gas Horse power should be higher but lower low end Torque, that is what I see between BP and Shell here.

i am getting around 29 MPG and that is using the A/C all the time down here in hot South Florida. my friend who works at a Honda dealer said that if i were to switch to regular gas, i would experience no pinging or rough idling, and my gas mileage would improve..
what do you guys think?
i am afraid to use regular gas since i have been using premium since i bought the car and don't want my car to start idling rough, etc.

When you switch to regular about the only change you should see will be less cost at the pump. In SFL you really do need to use a good injector cleaner once a month; any high humidity area tends to get more water in the gas and that tends to gum injectors.
good luck.

(One of these days someone will go for that and I'll be set. haha)
I put only clear premium in my 2016 honda fit Lx and I get 34mph.

Use regular and your fuel pump will go out way faster

I put the cheapest regular gas I can find for my 2015 EX and got 42 mpg my last tank, and can go faster than 34 mph. What's wrong with your car? Lol March was there last time I filled up but gas by me is now 1.22 a gallon for regular.

Please explain why regular gas will cause your fuel pump to fail earlier? My last car got 162k with regular gas and is still running. Sold it to my coworker.

If it makes you feel better to put premium fuel in your car, so be it. Your statement holds no truth, however.
Been using regular (87) in my car for 151k miles, wife uses 87 in her car at 75k miles. Several other cars using regular over the course of lots of miles and fuel pumps arent failing.

What if I drive very low miles. Like I just got gas for the first time since Sept. Thanks

Oh and they sell 85 here in Denver so 87 is not the lowest.

When I first bought my 2008 Fit used, I filled it up a few times with premium, and then switched to regular for 5 tank fulls, then tried 5 more tanks of premium.
I cannot actually tell the difference, so now just use regular.
If others can tell the difference, then sure premium probably makes sense for them.
But I really don't find anything changes, so why pay more.

I had a '87 911 Carrera for 30K wonderful miles and the sages (published authors and well-known mechanics) in the Rennlist community said that the only fuel that should ever go in my classic Porsche was Chevron Supreme and the only additive was Techron. I have used it in every internal combustion engine I own and have never had related fuel system issues (or knock, not that Fits knock). You get what you pay for.

I get the cheapest gas with the recommended octane rating and never had fuel issues either 🤷‍♀️

If you're not driving at all for months, having fancier fuel won't help, but there are some stabilizing additives you could add into the tank. Never looked into the specifics if/how well they work so ymmv.

1/10th of a hp more on premium.
Impossible to actually feel that while driving.
