Either 87 or 93 octane (if around $2.50 or less) at a Chevron, Texaco, or Bucky's.

Thanks, for the replies.. Shell and Chevron are Top Tier I don't know who Sam's and Costco get their gas from but, car ran good. I always liked Shell a posed to Chevron. I guess I'll run Shell and when I'm in the hood I'll go Sam's..

Thumbs up

Stick to tier 1 fuels, and I avoid ethanol.

I do a bit of driving for my employer, so he buys be one tank a month. That tank is always Shell Premium, no matter what it cost. When I'm paying, I get the regular Shell 87. I ususally end up going trhough about 2.5 tanks per month and I always wait until I'm running on fumes before filling up "his" tank.

87 octane is recommended for the Fit.

It doesn't make a difference to use Premium and just a waste of money.
If someone else is paying for the gas then you can waste their money.

You can check to see if you are pinging.

If your car manual says you need to use premium fuel then you should always use Premium even if it runs OK on 87 octane which it could but not as good as with Premium. It doesn't work the other way around.

Okay, I did some testing Shell and Sam's Club gas work a little better than Tesoro but, still get some detonation around 3.5k getting on to the freeway 4th gear. The only thing I can think of that's causing it is the lighter crank pulley. I ran 89 Chevron tonight and my car's a lot quieter and and no pinging.
