Bumper?
Bumper?
Hello all
Firstly i think i should introduce myself. My name is James, im from the UK. I have owned my jazz/fit for about three months now. I bought it off an oldish lady who wannted it to go to a good home. Its 2001/2002 with 24k miles on the clock. I bought it for £1000 so thats roughly $1400? Anyways, i never thought i would own one but i actually quite like it
Just wish it had a bit more power. But other than that i am impressed
This one is mine.

--------------
My question is.
will these bumpers and side skirts fit or is the shell slightly different? Really want to upgrade the looks

Thanks for your help!
James

From the looks of it your fit is JDM spec. In very good shape I mite add but your rite those bumpers and side molding have go to go. From my knowledge if your car is JDM spec then the picture of that Jazz WILL fit your car. Dont take my word for it though lets see what others have to say before you go on ordering parts. Mite I add that JDM front end you chose is my favorite.
Thankyou for that
As far as i know its a UK model but that may be similar to the JDM?
Just wanted to "freshen" the looks up really, I like the car and how it looks but i really love them bumpers on the blue fit i pictures above as well as the side skirts. Seen a few for sale on ebay but wasn't 100% sure if they would fit if honda had possibly changed the shell slightly? or maybe its just cosmetic? Hope i am making some sense here

Just by looking at how short the front end is im saying JDM. The USDM version has a much larger crash bar causing them to extend the front bumper quite a bit. The headlights are much larger on ours as well.
That is one heck of a deal you got your Jazz for. As for the body parts, the side skirts will work along with the rear bumper if you are also interested in changing that. The front bumper should work on your Jazz because both the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) and EDM (European Domestic Market) Jazzes both share the short front end. If there is difference in the front end, it could be something slight such as a radiator support, bumper bar, etc. The only way you can really find out is by finding that bumper and try to swap it.
Ah right, i didnt know that! But they say you learn something new everyday.
The bumpers i showed in the picture were also from a UK honda dealer, also seen a few driving around with that kit on so it was an optional extra over here. So if nothing really has changed from 01 to 08 on the structural side of the car only the plastics and a few cosmetic changes then theres no reason why it wouldn't fit. Awesome!
If there is anything structural that has changed however I do hope its only minor that way it could easily modified to fit but come to think of it I don't think im going to have much of a problem.
I wanted a jazz a few years back and always joked to a friend about having one and putting a K20 in there (he is a v-tec lover well and truly!) unfortunately I highly doubt il be doing that though as I have another car i use for motor sport competing which s going to take most of my monies. Just want to make it look decent as i think its a VERY sexy shape of car

You think the GD Jazz is sexy? You sir are a rare breed. Most Hondas save for the Type Rs and the S2000s seem to be regarded in Blighty as pensioners' cars - or so I've been led to believe by the UK motoring press.
Anyway welcome aboard sir
As for your question, as Hootie says, it's actually the US Fits/Jazzes that differ from the rest of the world, most especially the front end. The US cars have longer fenders and a different, more protruding front cross member to pass the (5mph?) federal crash requirement. Everybody else shares the original, "JDM" short front end.
The only pieces you'll probably have to change between bumpers are the front fender liners...the post-facelift "three-intake" bumpers supposedly use slightly longer fender liners than the pre-facelift "single intake" ones (I have the same bumper as yours, BTW - just without the European front corner mouldings). If you're okay with running a hidden gap between your fender liner and bumper, though, go ahead.
Anyway welcome aboard sir

Type 100, thanks for that
I think the best thing I can do is to buy a second hand bumper and trial fit it, at least then i will know 100% it will fit or not so if it doesn't i can always sell it on for the same money i would buy it for. So makes no real difference to me
I personally think the angles of the jazzes/fits are very good looking. I mean i have seen ALLOT worse i probably sound like an old man here (im 19). We do usually regard them as "pensioners" cars as most of them are driven by that age group. Mainly because how easy it is to drive, light steering, great gearbox, easy to get into and out i suppose? Also a very quiet and "refined" ride. I think my bumper side moldings are just an optional extra the lady before me had
Konespeed, Yeah it's a 1400 IDSI Manual (stick shift) when i bought it the mileage was 23650 miles, it had a few little parking scuffs on the rear bumper but as I want to change the all bumpers and put side skirts on its no problem
She was buying an automatic vaxuhall astra which i believe in the U.S is called a saturn astra? So she wanted it to go to a good home
and it has!
Will keep you updated

JMS,
Try to take a look at my photo thread - I already have the flared rear bumper you wanted.
It's a straightforward swap; if you're so inclined you could even do it yourself. Try to search for the GD Fit/Jazz Electronic Service Manual online - that is a veritable gold mine of information for DIY guys.
I've taken off the rear bumper once already (I did it for my LED taillight swap) and all you really need is a Philips screwdriver. Six screws hold it in place. My pre-facelift rear bumper has an extra four screws because it came with the rear mud flaps.
My Jazz is now a "mongrel" - it runs the post-facelift rear, but also has the pre-facelift front!

Congrats on the pick up and I have to agree with JaySmith. OEM kip kit.
Contact Braziers he's in the UK as well and was parting out some parts.

@jms: how's your bumpers? did it fit well?
Ktyler, Unfortunately I haven't actually got around to buying the bumpers yet. Still not sure what I want to do with the cars exterior. I do like the JDM front end (we do get them in the UK but they come with fog light inserts).
Though since Jaysmith showed me the picture of the white GD with the OEM lip I'm not too sure what to do. It looks very good in white though I'm not sure how it will look on a silver GD. Will try and photoshop it
