Newbie... Need Some Help!!!

How you doin peeps. I have a Purple 08 Honda Fit Sport (automatic) and i want to start doing some customizations... Only thing is, i dont know too much about cars and dont know where to start. I was thinking to start with the usual, like rims and sound system but if im gonna start doing mods i really want it to be perfect... I may not know specifics but i do know what i like
1. Black and Green. Definately want that to be the color scheme outside an in. Dont really have any ideas with regards to designs for the paint job or if i want to fade black to green or whatever. Could use some pics for some inspiration though

2. Lamborghini Doors. Call it lame but i just like it (probably wont happen anytime soon though)

3. Hid headlights with green foglights dont know about tail lights

4. I definately want to drop it... Just dont know how much. Im scared of dropping to low and causing damage going into steep drive ways or speed bumps or even parking blocks.

5. Performance is my weakest point but i do like fast lol . My friends say intake and exhaust are a given but beyond that ima wet match in a dark cave

6. Rims... I know... pretty straight forward but my question is how big? 17" or 18"??? And will it effect my ride quality if i go too big (18") as some people have told me? Also would want it to look flush with the rest of the car... how do i go about doing that?

Any way i know that was long but i would appreciate some help with a gameplan of where to start and how to follow up, from some of you more knowledgeable people out there. Im definately excited to get under way.

Hi Yoshi If I am fast I will be the first to welcome you to Fit Freak. You have some wild ideas that would be costly but have been done except for the green fog lights maybe. There are a lot of freaks in your area and some wild car as well. Welcome on board.

My interest is mostly in performance improvements.... I would search the older threads to get an idea as to what would work best for you.... There are guys with automatic transmission equipped cars that do very well in autocross competition so there is an advantage to having an A/T car when you need to be at full throttle or stabbing the brake pedal and not having to worry with a clutch. The best thing you can do for your car as far as improving performance is to shop for wheels based on their weight and not go with the larger heavier wheels and tires... Reducing rotating mass and unsprung weight will make more of a difference in your car than anything else.

Welcome welcomee!! Green and black huh? not a usual combination of color.. haha
As texas said.. if you want speed you should keep your rims as small as possible. But
if you want the LOOK and the with more performance then go 17". Bigger the 17 is just
overkill. Just get 17 with the right drop they could easily look 18". If you're going
performance, go 15", save you a few grams on the wheels .

Performance : Intake, Exhaust, Headers, Turbo/supercharge?, Spark plugs, or an engine swap? If you're to use this for daily driving i suggest you keep your engine stock
and at max give a turbo or supercharge depending on your preference. Oh if you get
turbo make sure you get the intercooler to go along with it too, Big points in HP there,
especially at night time. BOOOOOST haha.

Drop: Not too sure how low i havent done it myself... I've got the materials ready
though, my estimation is about 2 inch in front and an inch at the back, as you said
you don't want to go too low. ( Stock suspension are 4inch gap between tyre and fender
and 3inch gap in the rear).

HID: not an expert on it, but lots of these guys are. haha

Doors: Good luck on the doors, i don't think it's lame, after all its your car and no one
is gonna flame what you do with it especially if you scissor door it, think it'd be cool!

Just keep one thing in your mind.. Simple is good, keep it simple and neat. Overdoing
your theme color might give you a clash with the vision of your dream car.

Cheerio and goodluck!

For first mod's i wouldn't go out and get the car painted just yet. Doing visual mods first mite make you step back and say you like the color as it is.

First mods could be lowering springs, never to low, stiffer and more aggressive.
Some 15" 16" rims that are light and wide for a more flush look. Green fog lights I have seen and they look great just look for some green stained glass spray paint.

A little more like 7.9 lbs per wheel.. That is the weight reduction I got by changing to 15"x7" Enkei RPF1 racing wheels and another 2 lbs with Conti Pro Contact tires in the stock size of 195-55-15"... That's a total reduction of 39.6 lbs of rotating mass and unsprung weight... Add Boost and you wouldn't believe the results... At least the weight reduction took some of the load off of my motor mounts but they will still need replacing soon... You are right, boost is much stronger at night when the temperature drops.

Man sounds like u got the wrong car. I like ur passion to want to change the car and be different. But not sure why you got the Fit. Seems like if you wanted fast you could have gone a different route. But i would say it like this
Fast in a fit-all most never
Quick in a fit- You need FI ethier supercharger or turbo inless you do a k20 swap
Doors- not my taste but good luck i have not seen any Fit have them
Hids- easy fix there are many options out there
Paint- i love the idea once again never seen it
lowering-springs skunk for 2inch drop or coils T1r
Rims- i like the stock ones but would stick with 15s or 16s. Lots of good ones out there if u want 17s there is the SSR sp1s i belive is what they are called sick rim for sure.

But take it slow to make sure you get the mods you want and the look ur after. Like you said you want it perfect. That how i want my Fit to be as well. I rushed prior cars on moding just to get it done. But than it looked like crap. This time around i am taking my time. So far i think im doing good with my car and it looks clean to me
GL with the Fit keep us updated on this project

Just out of curiosity how old are you? As for performance with the auto I can give you a run down of what I have because im also Auto. stock numbers where 85whp and after all my mods I make 120whp and that includes

Kraftwerks S/C
Kraftwerks top mount intercooler
195CC infectors
Denso Iridium Power IK22 Spark Plugs
T1R Header
T1R test pipe
Spoon Sport B-pipe
Spoon Sport N1 axle back

You could save some money by going with a cheaper Header/exhaust but the set up I have is going to cost you $5,000+

*edit for every thing new your looking at $6,221 and that's not counting cost for shipping, installing or Dyno runs*

I believe that doesnt include the labor work and dyno test for tuning MN? I think labour for all them could cost 1,000 + easily.

oh yea, that number is just a rough guess for the cost of all the parts that's not even figuring in the cost for install or Dyno

Haha give him a break let's see what he does with his fit, whatever you do please don't bash it with mods that will blow the car. You're on the right way with your list of what to do's...

Like what 08fit says, take it slow and give yourself checkpoints during each modifications.
You might be surprised at how much change you will make from ur original modification list.

I have about 6K in performance mods that includes air shocks, hood louvers, Swift Mach springs, the Enkei wheels Megan exhaust except for a custom made axle back pipe with Aero Turbine muffler and the KWSC High Boost kit I also installed... The only labor that I didn't do was $120 for the axle back, everything else I did myself... I spent $6 for spray paint to blacken in the lower grille opening and fog light housings which is the only cosmetic modification.

Thanks for the feed back, i appreciate it... Im 20 by the way... With regards to performance, im not trying to have the fastest car on the streets... I just want a nice looking, quick car, kinda like 08fit said... I def wanna take it slow with the mods.. especially since im kind of a novice. It seems like the general consensus is to work on performance first, then visual... Cant argue with the pros lol... Ill keep you guys posted on what i do... By the way can you guys recommend some websites to check out to learn more about some of this stuff.

Every time I get to thinking of cosmetic enhancements something else will pop up that I haven't done to improve performance or handling and I put it off and opt for the improvements that I can appreciate when I am behind the wheel.... I don't look at my car very much except when I am turning a wrench and focussed on that particular job.

welcome on fitfreaks mang! I think the first thing you should go with is a drop... look into swift, tein and eibach springs... you might want too add a Progress rear sway bar while you're at it! if you want to make the fit a fast car then cornering holds the most potential... as for wheels ilike my 15s and would never go over 16s... but since you seem to want some show... you can go up to 17... don't forget that the heavier the wheels, the faster you will kill your suspension and direction. For performance, look into intake (sid's short ram intake, fujita, k&n, etc.) headers (mugen, Weapon R, DC sorts) and exhaust (wagolis, tanabe, etc.) If you're going with Hid's the right way is retrofit... it's pricey but worth it

and as it was pointed out, don't exagerate on the look, try to respect the lines of the car... the civic already has it's fair share of douches and ricers... the Fit does'nt need this

Check out the "Lighter wheels and tires=Great advantages" thread on, Honda Fit Forums.com. For a pretty good explanation of the reasons to not use any heavier wheel than is necessary.

Angry

also, one thing to keep in mind. the more attention you bring to your car the more cops and thieves will notice it. obnoxious paint, graphics, lights, etc. will only get you in trouble.

here's something about scissor/lambo doors. they sag then your doors stop closing properly. my buddy with a body shop warns his customers all the time about how lame they are but people buy them anyway. your doors will only open outward a 1/4th of the way then need to be pushed upward to exit your ride. cool, right? not cool when your friend tries to push the door all the way out and bends your fender, lol.

if i were you i would ditch the lambo door idea altogether and invest in retrofitted HID headlights. you get a far superior beam pattern at night and people in oncoming traffic will love you more for them.

for the record, i always mod in this direction:
suspension > wheels/tires > creature comforts > i/h/e

::EDIT::
i didn't click on that angry face emoticon. not sure why it's at the header of my post. i'm not angry at all, lol

The more i think about it the more im beginning to agree with you wagoon... The lambo doors represent a big expense and i would be pissed if a friend just pushed the door open and damaged my car... (end of friendship lol)... No but really its something i never thought about.. Ill check out that thread you were talking about Texas, i just joined them too... Just seems like fitfreak has way more people with knowledge lol. By the way what is a "progress rear sway bar" for??? (sorry if it was dumb question... still learning lol)
