To mod or not to mod....
First off my car is FAR from rice, ricers have wet dreams about owning the shit I have on my car. Secondly if your looking at this as a investment your looking at it all wrong. This is a hobby, I do it not to make money but because I enjoy modifing and personalising my car. Thirdly IF I ever do decide to sell my car I wouldn't just sell it as is I would part the sucker out. Would I come out ahead, probable not but I would make alot more then just selling it out right.
From past conversations Jensen Healy's myopic world view seems to determine everything he does as cool or proper, but anyone who dares have fun with or modify their own car as "ricer."
Look at his avatar, sig and posts.. it provides a pretty nice snap shot of his condescending and holier than thou attitude.
It also makes me wonder why he posts in threads like these if he has nothing positive or useful to contribute.
And you are exactly right returning to stock and parting out would yield much greater returns, as I have done in the past.
Ricer mods are like throwing on an axle back fart can, stickers, plastic hood louvres and a spoiler.
A supercharger and supporting mods is hardly the same thing.
Since fast is relative, if you are happy with it, who cares what others have to say... it is your car and your money after all.
Keep it stock or OEM modded. You can't get criticized for driving a stock car. Cops will leave you alone. You'll save a lot of money!
My opinion means nothing, but I feel like import tuning is so 5 years ago. I think the term "rice" has evolved to a new meaning now. Before it used to only apply to those that had tail lights and loud mufflers. Now, as long as you drive a modded Japanese car, you're pretty much rice rice. Even if you have the JDMest 250 whp turbo and the most Spoon'd out $5000 wheels... You're a ricer. You may not be considered that in the "Tuning World" where you might get the utmost cool points and respect, but to everybody else you're a ricer. Nothing wrong with that, but just saying it's pretty played out now.

Maybe you're just too used to people wrecking perfectly nice cars to create wheeled abortions like this one which I will wholly agree is a ricer:



But overall, while rational and eloquent that is one of the most ignorant, closed-minded statements I have read here, and that is quite the competition.
So why is tuning a Japanese Import any different then a Euro/Domestic vehicle?
Between CARB and opinions like this coming out of CA, I hope all of you of this mindset are sentenced to drive a G-Whiz or rollerblade for the rest of your life.
