Question Header for the Fit...

I'm debating on getting a new header for my Fit. I'm currently looking at the DC Sports, ASPEC, and the T1R header.

I've looked around here on Fit Freak for the cheapest prices, but I can't seem to find anyone who sells the DC Sport header.

I want a nice smog legal header for my Fit, so I am leaning heavily towards the DC one.

I saw some dyno charts already posted here on Fit Freak, but I want some inputs from people who actually owned one of the above mentioned headers and I would like your thoughts on them.

Any drawbacks to these for a daily driver? Overall fit and finish of the header? Did you notice any gains in power (butt dyno is ok) or any loss in MPG?

Any good inputs and first hand experience would be appreciated!

i think koolkevin is selling his dc header. when you're serious i can give him a call and find out if he's still got it.

he liked the dc header A LOT. i offered to buy it from him in the past but refused to sell it because [in his opinion] it was the only worth while power upgrade without boost. if i remember correctly, before he had the DC header he had an a*spec header and before that he had a megan header.

Thumbs up Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I'm interested in a used header if the price is right! I'm leaning heavily towards the DC one since I've had DC in the past for my D-series, my B-series, and my F-series motors and they all seemed to work great with no problems plus they are California CARB smog legal.

Ask Kevin if he still has it, if not, I'll just pick one up here on the site via a vendor.

Alvaro, thanks for the tip about a local vendor for this site.

You won't regret getting the DC header. I have roughly 60K on mine with zero issues, ceramic coating is holding up fine no cracks or rust. Butt dyno sez go for it!

Hey Blue I just put on my DC Sports header so I'll have to break it in a little bit to feel the gains, however its already starting to feel like I'm getting to 6k rpm a little quicker than usual. I've got a few mods installed so it is a little tougher to distinguish the gains. And if you can't wait to find one used then you can find one for about $197 on advancespeedshop.com. Hope to have helped and I'll be back with a better review after some driving.

JJ boy, thanks for the heads up! As for me, I have really no "performance" mods on my Fit, just a KN drop in filter.

I just want to know if I get this DC header and keep my stock exhaust system, would it be really just a waste of money?

Or would I see some sort of benefit from it like a slight increase in HP or MPG?

As to whether buying the dc header and keeping the stock exhaust system will give you gains I am not too sure. I put my header in with a few other mods so its hard to tell how it will perform by itself. I've heard from a few people that its the "best bang for your buck" and that they get consistent gains in the low to mid-range, but other than that I have no clue. It's worth testing out if you don't mind parting with $200 bucks though. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the feedback JJboy. With all my other vehicles when I have used a DC or similar header, I've always had an exhaust system attached to it. For the Fit, I don't want an exhaust system but I am also wondering even if I get the DC Header, will the stock cat and exhaust system hinder the exhaust flow that much?

$200 seems like a fair price for a new header especially from DC, so I am still on the fence until maybe December...

you will see good gains from a headers and a stock exhaust system...whenever a company advertises their product makes X whp extra than stock, that is usually tested on a completely stock vehicle with their part installed. This is because of the rule of diminishing returns.

Basically if you get a header that claims 10whp, a test pipe that advertises 10whp and a catback that advertises 10whp, you arent going to see a 30whp gain over stock with all 3. Maybe 15 or so.

SOOOOOO...uhm...yeah. BUY IT lol

I'm considering a header as well. Not sure whether to go with Megan or DC or T1R.
