Tire pressure for 16"
Tires typically only tell you the maximum psi to run.
OP you can run whatever psi you choose as long as it stays under the maximum for the tire and is enough to keep from tripping the TPMS. Honda puts 32 in the manual since this is what Honda has found to be the best compromise between fuel economy, handling, and comfort. Personally I usually run 35psi.

I agree though, usually the Fit sees between 32-35psi on the 195/55/15s I currently have depending on the season.
On a side note:
Didn't you sell your Fit?

Follow the manual. DiamondStarMonster is right. Add a couple of lbs. if you are going interstate speeds. Anywhere between 32-36 psi would be acceptable.
My sidewalls (Dunlaps) only list "do not exceed" pressure.

Are you suggesting it is not a good idea to contrast the tire manufacturers rating with the manual? Some have recommendations printed on the tire as well, and as I am sure you know a 25 profile and a 60 profile will have different needs..

Absolutely not, the manual is there for a reason. I'm just saying that Honda specified a tire pressure based on what will equate to the greatest good for the greatest number of people. That said not everyone will drive their car the same and different tire pressures will work best for different drivers.
I did sell my fit. Does it bother you?

having been in the tuning of compact sport cars for close to 25 years the common rule is if you are running aftermarket wheels bigger than what is posted on the OEM sticker inside your drivers doors. The rule is pretty simple; for every inch you grow in wheel size you add 2psi to the OEM standard. so if my car syas to keep 32psi in my 15" OEM wheels and I am running 17" rims I would keep them at 36psi.
Hopefully this helps.

The Engineers at Honda say to use 33 in front ant 30 in the rear for 205/45R16 tires. I've got 144,000 miles on my '07 Fit and I've already used up several sets of tires... At 33-psi, the center of the tread wore out more, so I reduced the pressure in the front to 32.5-psi. I've got very even ware right now. I got a Sears digital tire pressure gauge that reads to 0.5-psi accuracy. I've upped my tire size to 205/50R16 and I'm running the same 32.5-psi up front and 30.0-psi in the rear. I'm getting the same even ware again.
Pretty much. Most use about 35 psi for the street. The tire sidewall will give you the 'maximum' pressure recommended; Honda will give you their recommendation based on comfort and performance.
