Recall: 2007-2008 Honda Fit—Headlight problem
Recall: 2007-2008 Honda Fit—Headlight problem:
I got my notice today too and heres what im wondering: is it in the wiring up to the bulb or the bulb itself that is defective. I have HID's so if its in the wiring then I might still take it in if they'll still warranty it or maybe they will give me flack for having the HID kit?

"The plating on the wiring harness connectors for the low-beam circuit may become worn from use. This could allow corrosion, resulting in the connector to overheat and causing the low-beam headlights to not function. No related accidents or injuries have been reported."
I didn't do the recall on the window and I may not do this one either. If my headlights stop working they'll replace it then.
yeah, i became aware of this issue via the honda owner link customer support
the operator let me know of that another recall... my question is: do i need the notice in order to do a recall?
or can i just schedule them to be done with any dealer?

According to the Honda service technician it's just some wiring under the dash so whether you have HIDs or not should affect nothing. I didn't get the formal recall notice until I got home AFTER getting the recall issue fixed. They can tell by your VIN if you're effected. No need for the actual piece of paper. It was painless and I don't want my low beams going out randomly. I wondered if they'd give me crap about all the extra wiring I've got under the dash for my subwoofer, GPS, scanguage, radar detector and phone. It had to have made the steering column removal a little harder. They said not so much as a word about it.

This one was a ten minute affair. I don't get crazy and rush but if I'm going in for periodic maintenance then why not take care of it?
hope so
It's a sensible mod. I hardwired everything to the fuse panel so I didn't have a clus@#$%ck of wires on top. Unfortunately it moves the cluster@#ck under the dash by the fuse panel. Sorry to the technician. They've been QUITE nice to me in general.
nope
No! At least I didn't and the dealership complied with my wishes. They'll have to do it sooner or later. I pushed it because it was time for my 30K service and I wanted it all done at once.
Vin
The recall notice may well go to the original owner. Any Honda dealership service dept. can look up your VIN and should provide the recall service free of charge.
