Food for thought....

Anyone think of installing hids in your reverse lights?? I mean i see kits for so cheap now and especially in some streets were poor lighting is present i cant see a thing sometimes backing up. Do you think enough volts could be supplied to the rear lights???

HID ballasts require internal capacitors to charge up on initial turn-on. Thats why when you first turn HID headlights, they usually take a good 20 seconds to come to full brightness. I dont forsee anything as far as power draw through the reverse bulb harness to be an issue. The issue is one of 2 things. First, the reverse housing will need to be modified to accept the HID bulb, and even then, depending on the bulb/manufacturer, it may be too long and hit the actual plastic on the other side of the housing. Secondly, by the time you back up, they may not even be warmed up yet, unless of course you have a long country driveway. I have, however, thought about it before, I used to have a bunch of friends that lived in the woods in my hometown, would have made turning around in pitch black a lot easier

Thank God im not the only one with this idea... I think i might go the a local hid dealer and see the lenths of the hid bulbs they offer and maybe do a DIY. I go to PA where in the woods you cant see anything plus i think it would look really good... HMM tempting anyone else wanna share some thoughts...
