Performance Summer Tires, Chime In!

Who has what for hi-performance summer tires. What do you like/dislike about them? I need new tires soon and am looking for feedback as to what you are running etc... Time to swap out my dedicated snows and but on new shoes.

I hated the stock tires. Easy to overpower them. Swapped out to a set of Dunlap Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec which is a extreme performance summer tire with a 200 wear rating but they are now worn out.

Man, those things stick like velcro! Excellent braking, decent in the wet, really hard to upset them. I did lower my car with a coil-over kit and the thing drives like a go-cart.

But I felt they lacked on-center feel, were a little numb with steering response, a little to harsh with road bumps.

My favorite at the moment for "Street" tires are Hankook RS3 and Nitto NT01.

Thumbs down i tried the...

SUMITOMO HTR's on my Jaguar and was NOT impressed. I have had all-season tires perform better in both wet and dry traction. At least they were quiet...

rs3's? what brand is that?

really surprised that there are not a ton of people chiming in i mean, i am all about performance as compared to cosmetic. you can have all the "looks fast" parts in the world. but if you can't put the handling down...

looking at michelin exalto ps2's right now. or the firestone firehawk wide oval indy 500, yokohama Sdrive.

i am sticking with the stock 195/55-15 size

they're hankooks.

dang, with a UTQG of 140, those tires must have a lot of grip and a short lifespan

loved my nitto 555's on my srt, at the time i had about 300 hp and i couldnt get the wheels to loose any grip around corners, i lived in az at the time and street temp was super warm which allowed the tires to heat up very well..... i would take corners that usually i couldnt do past 60 at 85 to 90 depending on tire temp. sticky as hell of course all closed road in the desert

I just got those for my Sport in 205/50ZR16 because Michelin quit making Pilot Exalto 2 in that size. I really liked those tires...I just finished installing the Continentals. By the way, I ordered the Continetals from Mal-Mart!

Well, I ended up getting the Pilot Exalto PS2's from TireRack. I don't know what size you (above) were referring to when you said they don't make that size anymore. I have the stock 195/55-15's so they are still making those. To make the deal sweeter, I live next to one of TireRacks newer distribution centers in CT so I can pick them up locally and not pay shipping. Plus, Michelin has a $70 rebate going on now. My TR price was $489 minus the $70 but I will have to pay for installation.

I did run the Star Spec 1's and I did love how they stuck like glue but they felt a little numb, wasn't crazy about the ride/bumps and the noise they made.

From all the reviews of the PS2's, everyone loved them, I think I will too!
