So after nearly 3 years of ownership.....
....I *finally* figure out that I can turn off the dimmer on the factory stereo! 
I was always hacked off in the evening hours when I had to have my headlights on but it was still too bright outside to see the time or radio station. I was planning on removing the whole head unit and clipping the headlight dimming signal wire!
For those of you wondering how, just twist the button on the gauge cluster to the right a notch or two when the headlights are on.
Just thought I'd share!
