Can anyone tell me what this is??

I noticed this when I did my independent fog light modification. Pardon my ignorance, but does any one know what this is?? It has a teal button on it and at the base has 3 wires running out of it Brown,Black,Violet then runs with the rest of the wires and from there I have no clue? I didn't notice when I bought it from the Dealer Last July. Any help would be appreciated.

try unplugging it to see what happens.

could be the imfamous Vtac switch which really shows the true potential of the l15 motor.

Perrenoud Fit 04-03-2011 09:07 PM

Hey tblue,
There is another mystery switch one of us had this winter, but I forget what it was for, but I know someone here remembers!!
Big Mike :D

solbrothers 04-03-2011 09:07 PM

is your fit installed iwth a "karr" alarm?

tblue32 04-03-2011 09:38 PM

Just the factory alarm. It's the 07 Sport.

SilverBullet 04-03-2011 09:40 PM

Do you have a remote start? It might be the chip in the key.

tblue32 04-03-2011 09:54 PM

No remote start..........Wait........ I remember when I was haggling at the Dealer they wanted to charge me for some add-on....... 400 bucks extra I think for some security thing. But I thought what? and said no I don't want that? Some mechanic guy came in then walk out with something the finance guy gave him? So long ago:confused:

Goobers 04-04-2011 12:56 AM

did you buy the car used? cause that looks way too "DIY" to me.

flipperlazo 04-04-2011 01:51 AM

Bro! I have one almost exactly like it. I have no idea what it's for either but I'm thinking somekind of alarm cause mine has a green light that flashes when the cat is off... But all I have is stock alarm... I'm starting to think now that it could also be a kill switch of somesort. Cause my prelude a button for a kill switch and that's all I used after the battery on the remote unlock/lock died. And the battery was somekind of special battery that's hard to find. I'm gonna try to use it like a kill switch tomorrow and see what happens

D50boy 04-04-2011 11:01 AM

What happens when you push the button?

Took the words right out of my mouth - push that switch_:hyper: Interesting that you never noticed it before... since last July??

Black3sr 04-04-2011 02:32 PM

Don't push it. It is the passenger ejection seat button.

As the slots on either side allow for some adjustabilty I would same it is some DIY gadget

tblue32 04-04-2011 02:51 PM

It's been bugging me so I did some more research last night. Unfortunetly it's not an ejection seat could of used that during the Holidays!! When I push or hold the button. Nothing, Nada. I bought it used, yeah it looks like a DIY.

It looked like the top could come off so popped it off and wahlah there's an led in the center and to the right some prongs.

I think..... Flipperlazo you might be right it could be a kill-switch or immobilizer?? Is this what yours looks like?

sometimesjoe 04-04-2011 03:54 PM

Looks like a Karr alarm that the dealer installed but it's not active. My has the LED that flashes. When the key is in the ON position, hold the button and the LED will be steady. This puts it into valet mode so the alarm won't go off.

The dealer was probably trying to sell you the chip to make the alarm active. Mine works with my stock key fob that unlocks and locks the doors which also arms and disarms the alarm at the same time.

flipperlazo 04-05-2011 04:55 AM

^^^^thats what i must be! a karr alarm. theres a sticker on my passenger window that says KARR. i pushed the button and nothing. i press and help it while car is on, nothing. press and hold unlocked?car turned off key out of ignition and the green light on the the device stayed on and a red dot started flashing in the my gauge... whats the diff between a KARR alarm and and reg alarm?

Chitownfit 04-06-2011 03:23 PM

Could be the valet bypass button. I've got a Viper alarm that has a button just like it.

flipperlazo 04-06-2011 09:32 PM

^^^ whats that mean? what is the purpose and use of it?

Okay so I did some research on these Karr Alarms. It seems there are quite a few variations. Some with RED,Blue, Green, LED's. From what I"m reading it's an upsell from the dealership. Supposedly costs them about 150 total and they try to sell it anywhere from 200-800 bucks!! What's funny is that i thought the 07 fit sport had an immobilizer from the factory stock. All they added on my vehicle was an a shock sensor I found it just by the steering colum. but when they were doing their pitch it sounded like they actually added the immobilizer .........yeah right all lies!! Oh and the Green LED is now blinking on my unit weird. I think the red one on the instrument cluster is from stock alarm , along with the radio antitheft led. So now I got 3 crazy led's that blink inside my car like a christmas tree ........... ahhhh.:hyper: Think mine is an EX-1, It seems to be functioning not totally sure? Cause there's no chip on top it's open but it's blinking and stops when i turn the car on.

Anyhow here is a good link i found on another forum which explains a little
Disabling KARR alarm horn beep - PriusChat Forums

And here is a manuel for a 4040a manuel don't know if it's instructions are universal with these karr alarms but try it see if you can cycle it?

Oh and here is a link on our very own Fitfreak.net forum I found there are a few got to give credit were it's due!
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gene...ty-system.html

Let's me know if it works Flipperlazo we will figure this out!! :D

Chitownfit 04-07-2011 08:54 AM

A valet switch is a manual shut-off that temporarily disables the alarm system ( so you can let the valet park your car,*…

It's not too uncommon for them to screw up. Espeacialy if they are left on. Once they are on, the alarm will not function at 100% and you'll also not be able to change or reprogram the alarm. I'd take the car back to where you got it and have them explain exactly what is in your car. Even if it isn't functioning.

After all it is your car, it's your right to know! Good luck mate! Let us know!

Joshcls_GD3 04-24-2011 02:36 PM

looks like a kill switch to me. my friend has one that looks exactly the same...
