Decent Street Brake Setup

I tried doing some searching but couldn't find anything. My stock rotors are pretty much toast at this point, bad stopping power, warped, etc. I'm gonna replace the stock rotors with slotted and or drilled rotors to prevent the bad fit brake fade and want a little better stopping power. Has anyone had experience with the Axxis Deluxe pads vs. OEM? Or, what's a good combination for a decent street setup. No Auto-X or racing.

Thanks in advance.

-Sean

Hawk sports pads with brembo blank rotors. If you have some $$ left get ss lines and fresh dot 4 brake fluid.

Well you should flush and bleed your lines anyways if you haven't done so already.

If you want something more agressive try the hawk hp+. I've heard great things about them.

Okay, so no performance increase from Blanks to Slotted and or Drilled?

Or, there's really no sense for me going to a slotted /drilled variety since I'll be doing no racing, correct?

If you are not upgrading your tires, you will not be able to take advantage of more aggressive pads. It will just cause you to lock up sooner and more often.

Better tires
Hawk HPS pads
Brembo Cross-drilled OE replacement rotors
Motul RBF 600 DOT4 fluid

If the car is a few years old and worse for the wear, some SS lines wouldn't hurt. They will also make for firmer, more direct pedal feedback

Your making it sound like I'm running it on the track. "Lock up sooner and more often"? It's a DD, lol.

You realize that a well prepped track is safer than driving on the street, where you might encounter dust, dirt or rocks in addition to all the oil, grease and coolant everybody is leaving behind.

If you have ever felt your ABS kick in even for a brief moment, that is what I am talking about.

It will happen sooner, as in with less pedal travel, and more often.

Upgrading the brakes without upgrading the tires is pointless, and can actually be detrimental to braking performance.

Diamond is right though. Your brakes are only as good as your tires. You could have the brakes form a F1 car but if you cheep out on tires your not going to stop any faster

Here's my brake setup.

Brakes:
DBA 4000 Series brake rotors (Front)
Goodridge G-Stop stainless steel brake line kit
Hawk HPS brake pads (Front)
Motul RBF 600 brake fluid
Raceline USA zinc plated OEM front brake calipers

Since my HPS pads are almost gone, I'll be upgrading to Project Mu CR or Type HC+ brake pads.

Wow, alright guys. I'll definitely take your word for it.

It's tricky cause I need brakes but can't upgrade tires yet. But if I'm doing brakes I figured why go oem now, just to go performance later, cause then I'm double spending. I think maybe extending brakes for as long as I can, then do everything at once.

I'll figure something out. BTW, I'm still on CRAP Dunlop tires that came with the car. Worst tire I've ever owned on any vehicle.

Thanks again for the input.
