Would fitting a lightweight flywheel affect low-end (rev) torque?

I'm looking at ways to increase the low end (1k-2.5k rpm) torque of the 1.4 dsi engine.

When starting from a dead stop or driving in stop and go traffic where you have to drive at very low RPM you may have to slip the clutch a bit to prevent bucking or stalling the engine. It just takes a little adjustment in the way you now drive in those conditions to become used to the change but above 1500 RPM or maybe a little higher you get much quicker response in acceleration and deceleration when you lift off of the throttle.

I've always thought the fit held rev's way too much. I might have to do a lighter flywheel just for drivability.

An electronic throttle controller helps eliminate throttle lag and rev hang a lot as well as speeding up throttle response... It feels very much like you have a lighter flywheel believe it or not.

A lighter flywheel also may reduce fuel economy- the reduced inertia means the engine will have to work (slightly) harder to maintain the same speed. It won't be dramatic, but maybe 0.5 MPG- Mark W.
