Suspension and wheel fitment
i'm going to have to disagree; i had the falken azenis rt-615 and i thought they were excellent.
but this should illustrate that you're going to get a lot of people's personal opinions on tires haha

okay... You cant just start naming tire manufacturers and say "hankooks are good for track".
Which hankook tire model or style are you speaking of? The rs3's, ventus v12? Which tires are you talking about?
Also, falken tires arent good even for the street much less track.
Op, if you want max performance my opinion is you go with a set of enkei rpf01 in 15x7 (9.5lbs per wheel, light weight), dunlop direzza z1 star spec (super sticky good enough for track duty). As for stiffeners and bars, you wont need them till you know how to utilize your tire's grip and your stock suspension.

Negative. 17 is a great choice for track duty. in fact, its a way better choice over 16s because of tire sizes and even price. most 17" tires are cheaper than 16s.
My best friend tracks a k24 ITR on 17s. Its a dedicated full race track car. his wheels are not for show by any means.
Megan are decent. Go skunk or tein for coils. Also add front lower your bar like tanabe,tr1,j's, cusco,etc... Also maybe a xbar system for back. Custom alignment really helps you dial in steering.
In my opion 17" is too large for performance. You will be limited to how low you can go and how hard you can take that turn. 15"is perfect, but 16"work as well. Stay light with the wheel 11_17lbs is good. Tire choice is everything, size and stickyness. Hope that helps.

Megan are garbage. some high ass spring rates with some dampers that are not valved for their crappy springs. Ever seen a Megan shock dyno? Its almost as though they pressed the random roulette button on each shock per set to be valved..
"You will be limited to how low you can go"
who the hell cares if you are giving him performance advise?
"Stay light with the wheel 11_17lbs is good. "
so you are advising a 15" or 16" wheel and 17lbs being in your "light weight" category? ... what about the width of the wheels..
"Tire choice is everything, size and stickyness."
The only thing you said that is worth a damn.
"17 mainly show only."
And I still cant get over this.
Personal advice. Don't listen to this guy. Ever.

I think it's irresponsible to say "Brand X" tires are no good. To mean anything, you need to say which model and size within the brand you are talking about, and then you need to say why you didn't like them, what were the problems or shortcomings of that particular tire.
I have put a lot of miles on some Falkens, mostly Ziex 512s and think they are a darn good tire, especially for an all season and especially for the money. They do well in the wet, in the dry and in snow up to 6 inches deep. I have gotten about 35,000 miles out of a set, that would be my only complaint because Falken says they are good for 40,000. The pressures were always correct, alignment was good.
When people say stuff on this board, they should back their statements with facts instead of just shooting from the hip. Otherwise, it's just going to get into peeing contests and who joined the board for that?!

J im not going to quote your whole spill due to length.
Megan is garbage. Not just coils, but their whole product line. Op wanted them not me. Im too nice to tell him otherwise. I tried to give him options.
Low and performance dont really mix, but note he said street dd use mainly with occasional track.
Now for the rim size. You know 17 is good, however on a fit? 07 sport at that? And lowered? The fit is no ITR.
15x7 at least 15x8 is preferred. 205/50
I have 16x7 205/40, but 45 would be better.
16s are at that max weight of 17lbs correct?
A rpf1 in 15"can be had at 9.5lbs if you want those.
6ul? 15x8? 205/50? Yeah. Apoligy accepted.
In my neck of the beach we dont have many track times. We may travel great distance to do so. I have ran three auto x events here, but these are at an old airport and conditions suck. My fit is my semi daily so I dont beat her up. I race in straight lines at other tracks with other cars instead.
I never claimed expert, and we all know you are a track guru. Your car has been built for track domination. To bash me for 17s was uncalled for.
Do you run 17s on your fit? No
I still love what you have done on the track with your car, and this did not change that.

I would never give my friend, or really anyone else for that matter, bad advise to be "nice." Side note: Megan does make a nice cat delete for the fit. I have one now on and its pretty nice.

I would rather be low on a track then on a public street.

17 would be just fine on a GD. The fender/ wheel well clearance of the ITR is less than that of the GD fit..

Didn't bash, just adding information. Sorry If I offended.

I have absolutely nothing against 17s, in fact, as I previously posted, I would prefer them over a 16 any day. 17s just aren't my thing. I would rather my wheels be wide than tall. the contact patch of a 17 X 7 would be comparable to a 15 X 8, the difference would be weight and tire size of course, and price of tires. 17s would be cheaper to replicate the same grip(tires) as you can with a wide 15.
15s and 17s both have their pros and cons.
And once again I didn't mean to offend or sound bitter.
I just read your post on the forum and I guess got kind of sour.
Things like where you posted
Then you tell everyone to cut their springs to make their "stance" look better and negate from the performance driven rake that the springs create.

Just as a prelude that i failed to include...i have LOTS of experience in driving...i owned a 350Z for a few years and was known for being one of the best drivers around so i can handle a car fine...in fact ive already pushed my fit to the limits of the stock tires/suspension several times. Cornered it till the tires broke loose in back. So as far as knowing how to utilize it, already done. lol. Ive never tried tuning a SMALL displacement 4 banger before so some of the things from that end are new but more than anything, im just looking for ppl who have done it already themselves and get feedback on my ideas that i have rollin for my fit

Oh and as far as 17" being better for track duty?...think not grasshopper. When u start rolling on rubberbands, granted u have stiffer sidewalls but u also have less cushion for the wheels. They look great on a car for street use but if you know anything about racing or time attack cars, u know that they switch out thier big show wheels for smaller wider wheels for track use. And ur friend with the itr.....bet it didnt come factory with 14-15"wheels. cant compare apples to oranges...

if your rolling a fit and 17" rims...ur pretty close to rubber bands. an ITR is ALOT more tolerant to larger wheels sizes than the fit. Agiain, its not like i dont have any experiance with cars, just not much with small displacement cars like the fit. i know about suspension setups and PROPER wheel fitment. and i did ALOT of research on wheel sizing for the fit...17 is too big for practical purposes

chop off your fenders, get flares, roll 17s and meats!
haha yeah I am. whats your name? I might know you...
we should have battle of the Fits.
or if you want to start learning tracking and get to know the road racers here in Tyler. Let me know. you could come with us and track, maybe even make a few friends along the way
and work on some cars.
