I've tried the heat shield with a different intake before...hardly noticed a difference after the engine bay warmed up, removed it.. All of them will only perform minimally if you don't dyno-tune after the install..

from the link...
Highlight:
Gain up to 40HP and 60TQ!
5 Layered Washable/Reusable Filter with Oiled Cotton Gauze
Maximum Performance
Fits: 2007-2008 Honda Fit L4-1.5L

..that intake looks like the k&n tornado intake. i wouldn't expect 40hp and 60tq but it would definitely be an improvement over stock.

Our dyno agrees even after 'tuning' unless you alter the computer settings well outside legal emissions allowed.

Seems like a lot of money for not a lot of gains.

Agreed. It doesn't look bad, but I think their horsepower & torque claims are, to be diplomatic, optimistic.

Do an intake for the better breathing, sound, look, and even better mileage that some have seen. But for real power, FI or K-swap.

What is FI? And how much more HP could an FI or K-swap give?

Fi= forced induction ie: turbo or supercharger. Hks turbo kit makes around 150hp. Thats 50+ over stock. Most k series motors are about 190_200hp before modifying.

Fi kits are 3_6 grand.
K swap is 5_10 grand.

I'm interested in doing a k-swap when I finish my car payments and save up a little. How complicated is doing this? I feel like there has to be MAJOR modifications to replace the dinky 1.5L engine we have with a bigger one.

Wow dude, that thing looks really good actually. What's the difference between that and like a K&N intake?

The best way to think of any bolt on part is that it does add horse power, it frees up power that is lost due to how inefficient and restrictive the stock system is. The stock engine is good for what 105-110 hp. An intake doesnt add to that number but actually gets your wheel horsepower rating closer to that.

Like others have said the only really ways to truely increasing you overall hp is either an engine swap, turbo/supercharger or nitrous, or some serious internal engine work. None of these are easy or cheap. Good luck and do alot more research because.

Thanks. I didn't intend to just stop here haha. I am doing some extensive swapping of engine parts. I'm hoping to get a new exhaust manifold, reducing weight, improving suspension, getting better cams and valves, and probably a supercharger eventually hahaha

I'm super excited to get started and I'll be keeping this site posted with my how-to's when I do work on it.
