300,000 Mile Club...

Hopefully there isn't one already and I'm not misposting. Anyway...

It looks like I'm keeping my car for a while, so I figured I'd share the post-300K mile experience on here in case anyone is curious. Plenty of cars go 300k+ these days, I understand. But it's still rare enough to be interesting to Fit enthusiasts, right?
Anyway. I'm at about 289K right now.

Hood is chipped all the shit, but the paint has held up real well under desert conditions...

Around 230K the leather wore completely through about 11 o'clock on the wheel. 5spd, so the left hand is favored I suppose.

I know there's another guy on here with 300K+. I'm curious to hear others. Maybe I can keep owning this interesting with some friendly competition.
Next on the maintenance list is to replace the fender liners ($18 each on Ebay), front brakes ($68 for pads and rotors on Ebay), and a new set of 60K mile Yokahamas ($500 at Discount Tire).
I should hit about 340K by the end of the year I guess. Hopefully my luck holds up.

I wanna pay the fit off and drive it long enough I can have enough saved up in cash I can outright buy another equally good car when the fit dies

All around southern Arizona. Mostly Tucson to Phoenix and back. Courier work.

Impressive. I had an '86 325e that I got 365K out of before I crashed it. It was still running strong up until that fateful day. If you change your oil regularly and keep up with basic maintenance, any well built engine will last for a loooong time.

I'm not sure about the color coding about the years of Fit's but what year is that Fit? I thought I drive a lot but seeing all those miles makes me think I'm just driving my car moderately .

That's excellent and makes me think of keeping my car for a long time. +rep

I wonder why they change engines every 30k miles in japan, or maybe that's a rumor I heard. That's what a coworker told me after he got into a joint venture importing Japanese engines to the states, something about it being a government program

^That's because of the need to keep the air clean so they changed them before engines start to pollute, smog related.

Always great to come across another Tucsonan in forums... It'd take me forever to get to 300k; I avg around 6k/yr even with trips to Phoenix and a yearly treck to SD, but that's because I commute to work on my bike most days.

Do you think the wear on your steering wheel has anything to do with the chemical weakening of the material as a result of using interior detailing products such as Armorall Wipes, known for their degenerating effect? Your dash looks super shiny in the photographs so I figured I might raise the question of armorall breakdown.

Congratulations on the mileage!

When I was in Japan, I've seen some early 90s accords with 200,000 + km. I think it's a rumor that Japanese change their engines that soon. They probably use them until it's financially profitable to replace it.

I am sitting at 200,000. Love my Fit still. New England winters north of Boston are not easy on a car.

OP, how often do you change your tranny fluid and have you had any trouble with it?

'08 Base MT, 275K. I'm shooting for 300K by next summer.

I'm always late on the oil change, after the minder comes on. I only changed the trans oil when I got the clutch done at 195K, which is the only time it's gone to a mechanic.

I do mostly highway miles, 75mph+ so lots of RPMs for hours on end.

I've changed brake pads many times and shoes once. O2 sensor at 120-130K (Bosch I believe). Adjusted valves just after that. Plugs a couple of time (Iridium).

Air filter I changed not as often as I should and cabin filters a few times. Struts all around once about 175k.

I did run synthetic for my first two oil changes, and then once in blue moon since. Maybe one out of 10 times?

I've never gotten less than 30mpg, and never more than 36.

I only wonder if the CRV my wife has will do as well, and whether the new HRV could be as good.
