I just noticed today that the left side skirt from the ground effects kit on my 2008 Sport is gone. I'm not sure how long it's been gone, since I only noticed today when I happened to approached the car from the left side. I don't think I'm going to replace it, unless I can a used one, so my plan is to remove the right side skirt as well.

My question is, the skirts leave a bunch of holes behind, it doesn't really bother me. But the more important question is, is it harmful to the car? If it rains, water will get in, will that cause rust and other issues?

Any advise would be appreciated.

 

My left side skirt was dangling so I removed it. Left the right side on but painted over the bare metal left when the left side skirt was taken off. Car does not list to starboard.

 

What about the holes it leaves behind? Is that something to be worried about?
